Thread: Carenado Piper Dakota

  1. Default Carenado Piper Dakota

Can you give me your opinions on this plane? I am thinking of buying it, but I would like to know what you all think of it first.
I am well aware of the fact that some people are hostile to Carenado due to things that they did in the past, but I think that this aircraft looks too good to pass up. I would just like to have your opinions before I purchase it.

    Cheers
    Malcolm

On a related note, I just wish I could figure out why it shows up in the aircraft selection window as a Piper Cherokee, not Dakota. The word "Cherokee" does not even appear up in the aircraft.cfg file.

    Any idea?

    Thanks,

Funny, but the Dreamfleet Archer does that same thing...

    Axe:

I believe that you will find that "Piper Cherokee" simply designates the generic family name of the birds you describe. They all fall under the Piper "PA-28" group of manufactured planes. All PA-28's evolved from the late 1950's or early 1960's Cherokee family (140, 160, 180, 235, Arrow, Archer, Dakota etc.). As new models came out in later years, other titles were given to them. The Piper birds pretty well all follow this progression. (i.e. PA-24 = the Comanche family etc.)

I certainly stand to be corrected, but I think this is the answer to your question.
