If I minimixe FS while running I get the "FS has encountered a problem and needs to restart" message. This also pops up after I exit FS. Has anyone else come across this problem?

Did you get an error report to send to Microsoft? If so, did you click on the blue details line to see what the cause was. If it happens again, try getting the offending module name.
You could try renaming your fs2002.cfg to fs2002.cfg.ORG, restart fs2002, let it stabilize, go fly, then shut down, and see if the problem still exists.

If you're talking about alt-tab to minimize and you have one of the Radon video cards, search the forums. There was a topic either here or at Avsim about that problem involving one of the Radon cards.

I encountered it when testing the Reality-XP Garmin 530 demo. I guess the interprocess priority settings did not like the priority status changes of FS and the intertask communications screwed things up among the running modules. This is under a 2.53 Gz P4 512 DDR W98SE GF4 Ti 4200 with 128. I would suspect a "pipe" overflow.
I get this VERY frequently, and the module name is almost always the dreaded Kernell32.dll file.
Got so bad that I cannot get into Carfiff right now, but this seems to have followed the installation of one particular aircraft.
Tell me how to cure it --------palease.
