Default time in fs2002 and pss airbus pro

Hello !

Pss airbus pro is really a great add-on. One of the most impressive thing is the MCDU in wich you can program your flight plan like the real thing. It gives you an estimated flight time. But as the flight progress, the time flight increase, just like if time is a little bit too slow in FS. So block to block flight times are not realistic at all. (Like 1h30 between lfrs and lfpg wehreas it should be 1h00). I tried FS realtime, without any results.
The problem is also present with other aircrafts. Is there any way to make fs internal time run a little bit slower whereas the distance made by the plane would be the same ?

Thanks for your help.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-01-03 AT 11:36PM (EST)[p]Sure, fly your plane faster ;-)!! Or set a higher economy figure, that will also result in faster cruise. Perhaps you are flying into heavy winds, if are you using real weather, or you might be missing out on expected tail winds if you are not. I can assure you that 60 seconds on the FS clock does equal one minute of real time. Check it with your watch if you are unconvinced. FS Real Time was written to address different problems. Also, don't forget that with the PSS you are probably flying SIDs and STARs from the FMC, which also add distance and time to a route that you might be used to flying direct.

When i've made the tests, it was mach 0,81, near the structural limits of the plane. Tail winds or front winds of course increase or decrease my ground speed but didn't affect at all the time flight estimation (TFE). Sids and stars are of course integrated in the flight plan and in TFE. I know exactly the real routing for flights such as lfrs-lfpg so that the TFE should be 1h00 and not 1h30.....

But thanks for the answer.

No problem - OK then, where are you getting your time of 1 hour from? I have flown many airliner flights using the PSS and others, and they usually match pretty well the scheduled times I see from the real airlines. Not sure why an increased ground speed wouldn't effect the estimated flight time - are inputting the winds at cruise? Maybe with such a short flight they don't make enough difference to matter.

well, It was a part of my job to make flight plans for the real planes, included the one i talked to you. So i am pretty sure of this schedule.
When i installed this add-on, i had correct flight times for one or two weeks. I decided to update my sound card and this problem appeared. Maybe there is a config file or...i really don't know. I have reinstalled flight sim and pss but without any results. And i'm not enought competent to dive into those text files and modify them without help ! :-))
If you have pss airbus, is your estimated flight time (in the MCDU) before take off match with your arrival hour ?

bst rgds.

Hmm, ok, beginning to understand. I assumed you were looking at the estimate in flight. Does the pre-flight estimate include taxi time as entered into the FMC, perhaps? That would make it significantly more than the actual flying time itself. Otherwise, I defer to others more knowledgable, and you might want to try posting this on the PSS forum for a better response.

when you enter a flight plan, fmc gives you an estimated time of flight. Let's say 2 hours and it is accurate for the distance you have to do. You taxi the plane, align and take off. At this moment, FMC take the departure time (ex : 12h00). At this point, when you look in front of the destination airport, you see 14h00. But as the flight goes on, it becomes 14h05....14h10.....etc. and you finish to have an impressive delay of 20-40% at your arrival, even with a basic weather without winds. So maybe the 2 hours + 40% is the real time needed for the flight, but even in this case, i can't understand why the fmc gives you 2 hours before you take off.

I think i will follow your suggestion and post it on the pss forum.

Haven't seen it that bad, but changes in ETA are normal as it's a continuously updated figure.
AFAIK it doesn't take winds into account, only current (and probably average over the completed part of the flight) speed.
