    Default ANYONE USING AIMAP?

I am using AIMap with default FS2002 Pro Cessna 172SP aircraft with excellent results but in trying to use it with other aircraft like Beech Baron 58 or Beech King Air 350 the following problem is noticed: the AIMap window shows in bright yellow background color, with no data, and very shortly the program is interrupted with that error message and the question whether to report it to Microsoft.

The insertion in the panel.cfg is accurate, as I have had the care to copy it (not typing it)from the aircraft panel where it is working well.

Any indication as to where I am erring here at this end?

It would seem to be an incompatibility with certain type aircraft, as trying to use the 172SP panel which is working well with the Beech aircraft, for instance, the problem persists.

Have tried the old address of the program author and decided to resort to the possible experience and expertise of someone here in the forum - after many many hours of diverse and unsuccessfull attempts.

Best of luck to all and thanks a million for any assistance.

    Default RE: ANYONE USING AIMAP?

I have been using it for a long time. One strange thing I noticed was that I can not have it in 2 panel.cfg's at the same time. This lead me to copy all my panel.cfs's of to a private folder, and copy only one back into the sim before starting it up. I haven't figured out why this happens, but it solved the problem. I have it installed on every aircraft I fly - freeware/payware etc., but can only load one at a time. Is it still in the 172 when you are trying to use the other planes? If so - do what I did and make copies of your panel.cfg files somewhere and only load the panel you want to fly with and see if it works...I hope the author may peek at this post and offer up solution...hope this helps, it did for me!! :7

    Default RE: ANYONE USING AIMAP?

Thanks a lot for your information and assistance.
For the last few days I have been struggling with AIMap and most possibly due to my own configuration and lack of a manual "AIMap for Dummies" I am giving up.
Have reinstalled FS2002Pro a couple of times, have eliminated all panels except for one aircraft, have actually eliminated all aircraft and tried just one, to no avail.
In my local case here AIMap will only function with Cessna 172SP Skyhawk and not any other aircraft or plane!
So I stand dumbfounded after also trying a couple of addresses for a contact with the author who could possibly try to assist me - those listed in the program docs do not seem to be valid any more.
Anyway, thanks again for your prompt and kind attention to my request.

AIMAP is a weird program in that when it works it is great.
I especially like to follow the AI aircraft operating on a commercial flight.
I have it installed on several freeware jet panels for 737-200 , 757, 767 and erj 170.
I have never installed it on the GA panels but have had moderate success on the commercial jets.
the yellow screen error occurs almost without fail everytime I change aircraft with AIMAP active.
I would like to know if the author has any planned improvements.

Thank you for the valuable information which alleviates my feelings - now I know tht it is great when it works but it is weird.

Will eliminate it from all GA panels and start experimenting with commercial jets only.

Will revert when and if successful.

I raised this question some time ago and was told, to make it work, 'always start up in the cockpit mode'. I tried it and it worked. I still have it on a few of my GA models and on some of the commercials. Great little toy!!!!!

    THANK YOU! VERY VERY MUCH!
After intense experimental nights and days, trying everything, reinstalling programs, your post was all that was needed: álways start up in a cockpit model

Now I have many of my aircrat with AIMap functioning perfectly, as long as started in cockpit mode.

One last question on AIMap which I have not found in the help text or elsewhere: which aircraft are named 'disabled'? I thought those would be the ones not showing up in FS2002 but their call letters, position, altitude, etc. actually show and move within AIMap in a very light shaded tone.

Best of luck to you. Your exceptional help is much appreciated.

Disabled, I thought, meant planes parked on the ground???? Pretty sure that's what it is...to much clutter for me though..
Glad you're back in action!! :7

No problem, glad to pass on a tip as it was, in turn, passed on to me. Now have a sig banner again, as you will see.
