Default FS2002 No Longer Works

I am running win xp. I have run MSFS2002 Pro for a year or so with few problems. It just stopped working today. I uninstalled it but still have the same problem. It starts loading then says it wants to load traffic.dll, third party software?
If I let it load it dies, screen just goes away. If I don't let traffic.dll load it runs a few seconds longer but still dies. Help.

FYI, when you uninstall FS2002, it doesn't delete all of the FS2002 directories and files. I bet it still retained the file that's giving you problems.

Try uninstalling FS2002 again. Then go to c:\program files\Microsoft Games\ and erase the FS2002 Directory.

Then reinstall FS2002 again.

I had a similar problem a while ago.

I'm also running XP, try turning off all the automatic updates. Everytime Windows would update on my computer, FS2002 went on the fritz.

Try doing that, then reinstall.

Tried that. Deleted everything I could find of not only msfs2002 but any other programs I was using with it. It is like it is still reading an old config file somewhere, but I can't find it.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-01-03 AT 01:43AM (EST)[p]I just did a search, and there are two traffic.dll's on my system. One is in the FS2002\Modules folder and it's 31KB, and the other one is in the windows\system32 directory, and it's 77KB.

Take a look and see which ones you are missing. I could email them to you.

When you uninstall FS it only removes the files it adds. It will ignore all 3rd party software, aircraft, panels, gauges................etc. You may have added or installed a software package that added this .dll and as said above this may be causing the problem.

Well I have tried everything I can think of including all of the help from the replies. Still have the same problem. Anyone have any ideas on how to get this working again?

Uninstall FS2002 again and any other FSrelated software then delete the directories.
Do a search on c:\ for *.dll and delete anything called traffic.dll
Reinstall FS2002........
That should do it.

Call Microsoft Support for FS2002. They supposedly offer unlimited support.
