Thread: Elevator trim to an axis

  1. Default Elevator trim to an axis

I just saw that you can map the Elevator trim to an axis on your joystick. Thing is it doesn't seem to work for me! It's recognized by the game, because I go into assignments and set the axis. But moving the axis does not seem to change the elevator trim. I've got the whole CH rig.

Anyone else using trim as an axis? Does it work? It would be nice to use an additional axis for trim instead of buttons for up/down.

I've always had the elevator trim mapped to the vertical rocker switch on the left side of my CH yoke. Found it to be the most convenient and made the most sense for me (back for up and forward for down). BTW, what axis did you try to set up for trim?

I'd bet that if you go into your Joystick Sensitivities panel and look at the axis you've assigned to the elevator trim that it's set to full left, or no sensitivity. It's a problem with FS2002. Heck, I've known this for a long time, and it still gets me now and then.

Hi progrmr, you do it in flightsim - controls - assignments - joy-stick axis. Highlight the axis you are going to use, delete it. then scroll to elevator trim axis, double click it and a box pops up move the slider on the axis you are using and it will recognize it. You can then go into sensitivities and tune it, also if you have fsuipc you can do the finer adjustments there.
I have a microsoft force feedback that I have used the throttle contol for trim. Since I have throttle controls which I built the throttle lever was ideal for using to trim. I assume that you can do the same with CH although I am not familiar with CH settings.

Elevator TRIM is not assigned to an axis. The elevator itself is, but not the trim. The elevator TRIM is simply assigned a button. Go to the button/key assignment tab, find the elevator up and down trim in the list and assign them to the button of your choice. That's it.

Hey Chopper, You can assign elevator trim to an axis, default is buttons-key. It is Elevator trim axis under assignments, joystick axis, it sure is a lot easier and more realistic flying than using buttons. All you need is an axis which you are not using and assign it to that.
