If you max your scenery density, you will get a fps fall off to <4 fps at KPBI at twilight/night in FS2002. This can also happen in the day, if you reduce vis. to the point that the runway/taxi lights come on. It's a known problem in the FS2002 KPBI scenery, and no one's ever released a fix. If you lower scenery density to a certain point, the issue cannot be seen.
Thanks cactus. It's interesting that some people don't seem to have this problem. Maybe it's specific to the video card.
I have a Nvidea GeForce 4 Ti 4200.

Yea thats the culprit. You might want to upgrade your video card.
i know its not upgrading the video card because i have a ti4600 and it still does it. i didnt know about bringing the scenery density down. ill try that. i know a couple other people that have had the problem also.
Hi Steve,
I just went to the WPB site at dusk and was surprised to find that I encountered the same problem. FPS was only 1.5 until I got a few miles out from the airport. Then my FPS was in the high 20s. Checked out Ft Lauderdale which is just south of WPB and the frame rate was normal. Must be a bug in the design of the WPB airport scenery.

I don't believe it has any thing to do with the card. I have a ATI Radeon 9000 Pro w/128mb.

There is also a known problem with Paris and other parts of france, FS just dies to a virtual slideshow near and in paris.
Same here! Everything almost comes to a standstill when approaching KPBI. You're not alone...............
