    Default ILS Approach

I seem to have a problem with using the ILS systems in FS02. It'll aquire the localizer and make the approach fine with one exception. I'll be off to the right by a few hundred feet. Any ideas on what's going on and how to fix it?

    Default RE: ILS Approach

    David,

    Welcome to the Forums!

First off, does this happen at any airport (rather, on any ILS) that you try? If there's only one or two ILSes that do this, it might just be a bug. OR -- it could be what's called an "Offset LDA" rather than a traditional "Localizer."

Where a traditional localizer approach is a beam that extends out at runway heading from the runway centerline, some runways -- usually because of local terrain, trees, buildings, etc. -- have an offset "localizer" beam which will track in from an angle off to the side of the runway.

One easy way to check is to go to Map View, click on the airport with the runway in question, and scroll down the airport information to the 'Runways' section. Next to the runway you are looking for, it should indicate whether it's a full ILS, LOC-only, or Offset LDA.

    Hope this helps!

    See ya in the pattern!
