    Default Performance.

Cant people read anymore. If you look on your flight sim 2002 box it states that you only need like 64 ram, 500mhz processor or something along those lines. So why is it that people come in giving details about there pc which just happens to be lightyears ahead of the box wondering what kind of performance they will get. Of course you will get good performance if your specs are well over what you need. I think the most important thing you need to state is what kind of video card you have. 2ghz processor and 512 meg of ram is all good unless you have an extremly cruddy video card that just so happens, is not compatible with fs2002.

Sorry if i sound like I am having a go at people well maybe i am because, it seems they are only trying to rub there pc's specs into people who have lower systems.

I accept your point but the specifications on the box are described as the minimum required.

In my experience (not confined to FS) these specs will run the game, but at an absolute crawl. Microsoft and other software houses would argue that they're not telling you what you need to run the game with acceptable frame rates, quality of graphics, or anything else - just what you need to get your P.C. to accept running it at all.

This particularly applies to a graphic intensive program like FS2002 so I understand people enquiring. Having said that, I agree that it's fairly obvious that if you're running a 2ghz+ processor and a half decent graphics card, the question is pretty academic as it's obviously going to run just fine. F.P.S. at this level is academic.

I agree with previous poster's comments about MS putting minimum specs on the box. I guess the problem with PC's is that there are so many permutations and combinations of CPU's, MOBO's, video cards and memory capacities that it is virtually impossible to gauge performance.

Some time ago it was suggested that forum members post their machine spec. not to brag about them, but to indicate whether it was related to a problem, or otherwise. Most performance problems are related to mainly video cards or drivers for video cards and it is helpful for other forum members to provide a solution if they know the specs.

All those specs waste space in sigs - maybe a size limit there, too? ;-)

Man lighten up! So what if someone comes to the forum excited about there new computer. They just want to check with people that have been flying longer to make sure they got the best bang for the buck (and maybe brag a little also). I would be happy if I got a new super high end PC for FS and want to tell someone about it.

I can run the sim quite well on a P3700 GF3 computer with some sliders up a bit. I'm sure that it will run with no detail on a 500 with a good video card. Not that I use that computer as a daily flyer but it gives a good idea of what the sim will do on low end computers.

    1st a rant, 2nd a solution....

I understand what everyone's saying...and the posts that bug me the most are Hello everyone, I have a 500 GHz Pentium XXXIV with 5,500 GB RAM and a 1,000,000 GB HDD, a 36" flat screen monitor, a 5000x CD-ROM, bla, bla, bla ....how will my frame rates be and how well will FS2002 run on this ?....That is blatant bragging ( and probably not even true most the time ) and really serves no purpose. I'll concede to the idea it's not a bad idea to post them when you're asking some type of a technical question, but some folks go as far as to tell the most fine details that are irrelevant....

However ( and here comes the solution )....

If you don't like it, simply do not look at it. If I see a post with the letters F,P & S in it, I pass it by as I know I'll get irritated if I open it up and read it...Some people are very interested in what type of computers others have; me, I could care less, but that's me....not everyone's the same so there does need to be some level of tolerance...I'm sure there are some things I do that irritate others ( just ask my wife ) and my advice would be to just ignore me if I irritate you ( just like my wife ). So just pass over what you're not interested in as there's sure to be others that are interested and we do need to please most of the people most of the time :)

You are, of course, entitled to your opinion, and I do agree with you in some respects...I've just learned to tune it out...

    Regards,

    Bob

Coolian. I got sick of posting my specs every single time I needed an answer to a problem. I do not do it to brag, I do it to save time.

When People get new high spec PC's, do u expect them to say absolutly nothing, do u?, of course there gonna say something, and let mye ask u this, if u went out and bought a brand New PC, ( 2.8Ghz, 1gig RAM, GeForce 4 ti 4600 ) , would you say absolutly nothing?, would, u, I do not think so???, so give people who have higher spec PC's than, you, , just think, They are lucky, and I know a person, which nearly half the spec machine as I have,( look below) , and guess what?

they get better FPS than me in FS2002, u know why they do, its there drivers, u may have a high spec machine, but have tweaked every last drop out of it, got all the latest drivers.

there we go, I ended this Conversation, :-)

Yes. Who cares what kind of computer I use, unless I ask a technical question? Quite a few posts here are obviously about stroking somebody's ego.

    How about these:

"Hey guys, I've a got a smoking hot new girlfriend. Do you think she'll let me use FS2002?"

"Hey guys, I just bought a brand new Jaguar. Do you think the 10.0 GHz PC with 8 GB RAM, a 1000 GB hard drive, a Harmon-Kardon surround-sound system, GeForce XXX 8000 UltraSuperDuper, and 40" plasma display I bought to play FS will fit in the trunk?"

Which ultimately all boil down to:

"Hey guys, my {manly part} is so huge that it gets in the way of my CH yoke. Does anyone know how to fix this?"
