Default NAVIGATION and CUSTOMIZED INSTRUMENT PANELS

I like to modify my panels, especially with ConfigEd.

Being a former Navy pilot, and hold an FAA ATR, I like setting up my displays in various ways to see what I like best, and what seems realistic.

However, I continually run into a problem when I use a shareware airplanes and mix/match nav equipment.

I use a typical HSI / dual needle RMI setup. However, the #2 nav VOR will not be indicated on the RMI, even when #2 freq is displayed on the HSI if I select it as #1 freq as a test, so #2 is in not out of range.

If I pause the situation and select one of the MS aircraft, like the Beecch 350 or B737-400, - WHAMMO! The RMI does show #2 nav properly!

Anyone know what the heck gives here? I think it may b a bug in one of the files that experts know how to modify, but not sure. If anyone knows -

THANX IN ADVANCE!!!

I just tested several aircraft, default and addon, using the HSI/RMI combination. I was able to get NAV1 and NAV2 on the VOR needle depending on the needle selection at the bottom of the RMI instrument. On the default aircraft, the NAV1/NAV2 selection is a red ball. On another aircraft a small arrow switched between the NAV1/NAV2 selection.

Note, the HSI center needle will only respond to NAV1 for ILS approach/NAV flying. Some HSIs do have NAV2/NDB indicators as well.

Thanx;

I know exactly what you mean. In fact, I am using the default B737-400 dual needle RMI with the red ball. However, when I switch back and forth from nav #1 to #2 on the RMI or the DME, it gives the standard -----99 "not in range: indication

Sir -

I found an answer under a mail about making NAV radios to work:

QUOTE: to make NAV and Comm work or not, paste this in aircraft.cfg:

[Radios]
Audio.1=1
Com.1=1, 1
Com.2=1, 1
Nav.1=1, 1, 1
Nav.2=1, 1, 0
Adf.1=1
Transponder.1=1
Marker.1=1

LAST EDITED ON Dec-01-02 AT 07:00PM (EST)[p]Yes, a radios section needs to be in your aircraft.cfg file. However, there are two versions:

For aircraft radio stacks that use a active/standby switch:

&l;Radios&r;
// Radio Type=availiable, standby frequency, has glide slope
Audio.1=1
Com.1=1, 1
Com.2=1, 1
Nav.1=1, 1, 1
Nav.2=1, 1, 0
Adf.1=1
Transponder.1=1
Marker.1=1

For aircraft radio stacks that have only an active radio:

&l;Radios&r;
// Radio Type = availiable, standby frequency, has glide slope
Audio.1=1
Com.1=1, 0
Com.2=1, 0
Nav.1=1, 0, 1
Nav.2=1, 0, 0
Adf.1=1
Transponder.1=1
Marker.1= 1

If you imported FS98/FS2000 aircraft into FS2002, you need to manually add the radio section according to the above.
