    Default Realism

How real is realism. What I mean is when you set the slider to maximum realism in FS2002, does this really give you a more realistic flight model or is it just harder to fly. For any real pilots out there. Which setting would best model a small plane like a Cessna 172.

It can be "harder to fly", but more real yes. Some items can be over the top real, like the gyro drift. But the more realistic the better. You don't want to be flying around in la la easy land.

The inner flight model doesen't become more realistic if you pull the sliders to the right. But: there are quite a lot of side effects (in real) which make it more difficult to fly an aircraft. It's especially this side effects which become more and more aware while increasing realism. The best one to notice is the aerodynamic/mechanical prop effect which leads especially single engined aircrafts drift from the runway whilst in take off run. Another is gyroscopic drift, but as 'yorky2000' stated MS overshooted the realism in some points...gyroscopic drift is dramatically to hard in FS2002!

Conclusion: switch of gyroscopic drift and don't fly whithin to hard turbulences (thei're also modelled way to hard), but leave sliders most the way right!

    Happy landings,

You can change the turbulence strength in the FS2002 config file.

This is for the Dreamfleet Archer but they work for me on a regular basis for the default aircraft

Don't us gyro drift. Real DG precessing that much would be in need of repair.

P factor is overdone at full setting.
