    Default weather/ground winds

I am using FS2002 std. When I download real weather (including winds aloft) my screen shows that the existing ground winds are (for example): 270/01. There is never any substantial ground winds. However, as soon as I take off the winds "kick-in" or take effect. Again for example: 270/18 etc... The wind direction and speed is updated regularly during flight but as soon as I land the speed shown goes back to 00 or 01. This is obviously not accurate. This happens in both local and global settings. I am not in the lee of a building or in any object's "shade" from the wind. This happens on the runway as well as during taxi. Anyone else have this problem? Any solution would be appreciated. Am considering FSMeteo but this is not a solution for the problem in FS2002. Thanks all.

    Default RE: weather/ground winds

I'm going to take a stab in the dark here for you as to what might be going on. First, hit Clear all weather before downloading weather. After you d/l the RWWx, are you setting your altimeter to local pressure ( hit "B" once ) ? Reason I ask, is perhaps the wind layer is set to be correct, only your aircraft " believes " it is out of your "weather layer " as defined in the advanced set up. This might not be totally accurate, but I'm not so sure it's totally inaccurate either. I would for sure " clear all weather " every time prior to downloading weather. As for FSMeteo, I don't have it so I can't speak for it, but I use ActiveSky2002 which is a freeware program available here in our library that works quite well. I'm not in anyway discouraging you from getting FSMeteo, only providing alternatives.

Good luck & let us know how things turn out !

    Regards,

    Bob
