Default TO/GA

Every time I press this button to takeoff, it just advances the throttle to full, it happens in every aircraft even if they have no fuel. Whats the deal?

    mcholly,

Ignoring the fuel issue, TO/GA stands for "Take Off / Go Around", both situations where you want effectively-maxiumum power levels.

In all seriousness, I thought you weren't supposed to advance your throttles to 100%, only for a few seconds if you must. when I hit TO/GA, i get ~ 75% power and it takes me much longer to actually get my bird off the ground. I try to keep my throttles on ~90% for T/O.

    LAST EDITED ON Nov-21-02 AT 11:10AM (EST)[p]Paul,

We'll want to hear from somebody else for the "director's cut" but here's my "rough cut" ... (And go easy on me guys, I bruise too, you know, so just state the facts, thanks!!)

TO/GA certainly COULD produce power levels which were somewhat derated from maximum (to help keep the engines from overtemping, I suppose), but on real aircraft I would expect the flight crew to be able to override the derating (don't know the correct term) simply by manually pushing the throttles forward all the way and holding them at the forward stops ...

... But the 75% power level you reported sounds like a bug of some kind, as you know, with my take being that it's probably somehow in your setup. As in "maybe the joystick throttle isn't calibrated correctly so it keeps backing down from TO/GA".

    Anybody?
