    Default FS2002 Freezing :(

Please, could anyone help me ! My FS2002 freezes whenever he wants, as with any planes, any sceneries and any views. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled this game twice, but nothing to do, the same symtoms appear : Just have to reboot my computer by the reset button. What i have done ? i already downloaded all hardware latest drivers. Try by renaming my FS2002.cfg and renew it, by disactivating my onboard sound card, change my original FS2002 path in the HDD. I don't know what to do and overall why it happens, however i had played to this game on the same computer, with the same configuration, for one year without any problems. So if someone can help me to fix it, it will be very helpful. Thank you.

    Default Ok, seriously now....

...sorry 'bout that - couldn't help myself. Anyway, I have an idea of what might be happening...does this happen with only the default everything ( ie - have you tried it immediately after reinstall ) ? 'cause I've had 3rd party aircraft mess things up pretty bad; so I thought back to everything I did. What I deduced was that it was an aircraft I had installed. So, I went through and systematically removed aircraft files until the problem went away. Therefore, I knew which one was giving me problems. I reinstalled everything sans that plane - she worked fine. I re downloaded the aircraft & no problems since. This may be painstaking, but try to install one 3rd party add-on at a time until the problem occurs - than you can isolate the culprit. Again, this might be it, might not....worth looking into though...

Anyway. The way i cured the lockups was a new machine.

:) Thanks for your advice Bob and sorry for the "he" but he, or this game or this M*********** ... is really pissing me off. I spend 3 nights one this computer trying to fix it. Now, i gonna remove all my add-on planes. This question would be stupid, but do u advice me to remove the gauges of theses aircraft also ?
Actually, i tried it straight after reinstall, and it didn't freeze. But as i told u : anytime, anywhere :) !!! The first time it happened i ve just finished to repaint an opensky aircraft - day textures only - 744v2. I removed the aircraft right after it but the problem persists. I'll let u know. Thank u

No problem with the "he"...I found it quite amusing ( I was only hard timin' ya )....

At any rate, if you have a lot of add-ons, I'd suggest doing it the other way around. Reinstall ( if you're positive it's an add-on causing the problem - like if you're sure it works ok with just the default, as-is FS2002 ) and then start to add the add-ons one by one. That may be a little less frustrating for ya.

    Default Quick note.....

Hold off on the reinstall until you give a few other folks an opportunity to respond. Someone else may very well have an easier solution than mine. Also, try to think back to when it started happening & see if you can pin point the offending add-on. In that case, just remove it & see if things are ok ( and yes, get rid of the gauge files too. but be careful that they are not needed on another planes ! For example, sometimes a new aircraft will overwrite a gauge you may already have from a different install....so if you remove that, other panels may have holes until you can replace the ones you removed - hope that made sense )

Count the connectors... more male or female? That will give you the answer :-)

Hope the number is a uneven one ... :-)

COOLING, my friend, COOLING. Your cpu is overheating!! No, it never did it before, but now it is, because you installed FS2K2.

Take the side off your box, set a table fan to blow directly on the motherbaord/cpu area. Run the sim for a few hours. If no lockups, add a few exhaust fans to your case, and install a larger cpu fan. This fixes 80 - 90% of lockup problems.

I have to agree with bob on this one. When i first got fs2002 it ran fine to start with but after a few months i started to get random lock ups.I also tried all the usual things drivers etc but to no avail.I then did a reinstall of fs2002 with the default planes only, after 2 weeks of trouble free running i added pss 747, again 2 weeks later with no problems i added pss 777.Two weeks later and still everything is fine i added Df737 and this has been running fine for one week now.So add one add on at a time including any scenery or downloaded planes and thouroughly test them for any problems before adding anything else.
