Should I upgrade my GPU? Will it make a difference in p3d

My system is as follows:

# I7 2600k @ 4.5ghz

# MSI gtx 750 ti. Overclocked from 1058 to 1158MHz offset and 3099 to 3499MHz mem clock

# Kingston hyperx fury ssd

# 16gb ram Corsair vengeance.

# Asus P8P67 pro rev 3.1

I was thinking of a gtx 980 but wants to know what, if any difference I could expect.

Thank you

Matthew

All I can offer is that I went from a GTX 570 to a GTX 970, and got a nice performance increase, so it was worth it to me. But I don't know how big the change will be from a 750, though I'm sure there will be some improvement.

I would get the 980ti instead of the regular 980. I upgraded when the 980ti was released and saw a pretty nice gain in FPS in P3D. Although, looking at your specs you should also upgrade your CPU, motherboard, and ram to DDR4 to see the most improvement.

Currently am planning an upgrade as well. Am waiting for the 1080ti to be released next month and then the i7-7740K along with a new motherboard and 32gb of DDR4 ram.

Intel i-9 13900KF @ 6.0 Ghz Cpu, MSI RTX 4090 Suprim Liquid X 24GB Videocard, MSI MAG CORELIQUID C360 Water Cooler, MSI Z790 A-PRO WIFI Motherboard, MSI MPG A1000G 1000W Power Supply, G.SKILL 48Gb Ram @76000 MHz DDR5 Ram, MSI SPATIUM M480 PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 2TB Drive, Windows 11 Pro Ghost Spectre x64

With a new line of CPU's coming from AMD next month, I'd personally hold off on any pending upgrades/purchases until we see real-world benchmarks (leaked benchmarks, and benchmarks from the manufacturer, should be viewed skeptically - however they do appear promising).

Ryzen may deliver the performance you need, for a lot cheaper (~$500 vs ~$1700 for top of class). You can still run an Nvidia card with an AMD mobo/cpu if you wish.

Now the 180ti is finally released! I'm going to pick it up soon.
