il88pp
A fix for file: fsx_cao.zip Size: 23,136,778 Date: 12-01-2008 Downloads: 1,333 FSX Air China Texture Pack. This is the Air China texture pack for the FSX default Airbus A321, Boeing 737-800 and the Boeing 747. The pack includes an original livery for each of the three aircraft. Splash screens are included. By Victor Vu. (From the Flightsim.com File Library.) The file contains textures for the default b737, default b747, and default A321. For China Airlines. I found an error with the b737 texture in that package. In some views it looks ok, but when the light hits it at different angles you will strange faults. ------------------------------------------ To fix the B737_800 texture in file: fsx_cao.zip Open folder texture.cao In it you will see about twenty files. Only one of those needs fixing. Not even fixing really. Just replacing. Easy peasy. File is: b737_800_1_T_Bump.dds This file needs to be replaced with one from the default aircraft. As always, just in case, make a backup of the file, name the backup: b737_800_1_T_Bump_cao_orig_copy.dds Then, delete: b737_800_1_T_Bump.dds from folder: texture.cao -and replace with file: b737_800_1_T_Bump.dds from the default B737 folder: ..\B737_800\texture That's it, solved. ------------------------------------------ Here are images of it. mrzippy
Good job Il! Did you post a comment for that download and link to your fix? Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
il88pp
That's a goosd idea mrzippy. Problem is, I just realised tere may be another little tweak to this. It involves editing another file of this texture. for even better results. That fix would require using the freeware program DxtBmp to edit a .dds texture file. I need to test that theory first, compare the results, and if succesful write it down in a post. I will wait with adding a link in the comments until that time.
