Didactech
Whilst browsing I see pictures of many fine home set-ups and often wonder why the addition of a neutral background is omitted. I have always placed a cheap piece of matt hardboard sheet behind my monitors to occlude room clutter, shadows and reflections and found that this simple add-on makes such a difference to the illusion as one's periphery vision has no distractions. I have attached a couple of 'doctored' images for you to make your own judgement, courtesy of Rupert and LJ45man:

Goatman24
I've installed some black blinds and keep them closed with all lights off when flying. It does make a huge difference.
