For some inexplicable reason my cockpit view defaults to 2 x zoom. I've tried everything I know to change this. Anyone have any ideas?

Allan,
that depends on how you start fs2002.
If you load an existing (saved) flight:
The zoomfactor is saved in the .flt flight file.
Depending on which aircraft is loaded with the flight:
- If the panel.cfg file of the aircraft has an explicite definition line for zoom (like View_forward_zoom=0.8), FS2K2 will use that zoom factor.
- If there's no such line, FS2K2 will load the zoom factors from the .flt file.
So, either add this zoom factor to each panel.cfg file (which I did) or:
- load the flight.
- reduce the zoom factor manually.
- save the flight again.
(or: manually edit the .flt file with Notepad)
Simular behaviour if you load a new aircraft in an existing flight: the zoom factor will remain the same, unless the panel.cfg has an explicite definition for View_forward_zoom (and other views zoomfactor)

in addition to what Rob said, when you manually adjust the zoom factor e. g. for straight foreward from let's say 2 to 0, then go to another view - e. g. left forward - and then back to straight foreward, the zoom factor will be back at 2.
To prevent from this and to generally set and keep the zoom factor at 0 from within FS2002 (without eding the cfg) do the following:
circle aound through ALL of the 9 possible views in 2D mode and adjust the zoom factor for EVERY view to 0 by using the back space key. This will keep the factor at 0 for the whole session even if you change views (off course unless you manually chenge the setting).

Thank you both for the replies.
I'll give them a go tonight.
Regards,
Allan
