I've realized the problem. The link above is to the fsx Jet Provost but I downloaded a repaint of the strikemaster which is 2004 (thought it was fsx!). I would assume this is what is mucking up the panels?

Probably so!

Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!  ✈️

Thanks for the confirmation. There's no way you could get round this is there? Silly me! :)

A lot of repaints add textures to the cockpits also so the best solution is to find the ones done for your Sim.

The original texture folder which came with the FSX version may have a texture.cfg file in it. Copy that to your addon texture's folder and see if it works.

Edit: I explored a bit. There is no texture.cfg with it. Try this:

Create a file called texture.cfg in texture.425 folder with the following content.

[fltsim]

fallback.1=..\texture
fallback.2=..\texture.CF

Many thanks for your response. If I use the panel given the repaint doesn't show as it is 2004. If I use another panel from fsx it works but comes up with the black cockpit. I gave your advice ago but it doesn't seem to work? Thanks for you time.

Hi All,

In the FSX version, the gauges are contained as .cab files in the Panel folder for the aircraft.

In the FS2004 version the gauges are in a separate folder (not in the Panel folder) and need to be copied into the FSX main "Gauges" folder for the displays to work.

By the way the FSX and the FS2004 versions appear to be the same models and air files.

So it should be possible to add the new aircraft textures to the FSX version.

Regards

Hi tilneyg88,

I have downloaded the files and did the following to make it work in FSX.

Firstly, make sure you copied the files in the FSX version download "Effects" folder to the main FSX "Effects" Folder (do not overwrite any existing files).

Next copy the additional texture folders form the other downloads into the FSX Jet Provost folder (texture.1fts , texture.1ftsblue and texture.425). Now copy the "thumbnail" file from your 'texture" folder to the 'texture.425" folder.

Now copy the file "model.tiptanks" from the FSX version download folder "FSD2 Jet Provost t5 tiptanks" to your FSX Jet Provost folder. You will need this to make the additional textures to work.

Now copy the respective aircraft config details from the additional texture aircraft into the FSX Jet Provost folder config file and renumber their entry.

You should have this...(note I renamed the titles and removed the FSDS2)
