Nav Trainer.

I have FSX running on Windows ten. So far no problem. I downloaded the Cessna Nav Trainer from the resources section. I followed the instructions to move it into FSX, yet it never shows up. The only thing I do different is I change the directory location from my "C" drive to my "B" drive, as my C drive is a solid state drive that contains only windows 10, all other programs I load onto my "B" drive. Anyone else have a similar issue?

You are aware that this is a "special" C-172 with a recreated 2D panel? Don't let the auto installer try to put it in your Sim! Create a folder and extract the aircraft and gauges folder to the newly created folder and then place the appropriate folder and gauges where they belong.

And to answer your question, no it doesn't matter what drive the plane is on, as long as it's in the folder ...\FSX\Simobjects\Airplanes

FSX permits scenery to be located anywhere, as long as you activate it correctly in the Scenery Library. Aircraft, Ships, Rotorcraft, and so on, must be located in the proper folders in ...\FSX\Simobjects or it won't "see" them.

Gauges must be in either the plane's ...\Panel folder, or ...\FSX\Gauges.

I bet money you know exactly where the effects have to be placed :D

Hope all my ramblings help a little bit.

Had a thought...then there was the smell of something burning, and sparks, and then a big fire, and then the lights went out! I guess I better not do that again!

That is not true. You can place ships, UFO's, vehicles, tanks, gliders, motorhome, and helios in the ..SimObjects\Airplane folder and the sim will find them.

...in fact, you can place sim objects of any kind anywhere you like, just like scenery - as long as you add the folder where they are in to the FSX.CFG as an additional "SimObjectPaths.x" tag.

Well, I'll be darned. Learn something new every day, if I'm not very careful! :)

Thank you all for the info, I appreciate it!

Thanks for the replys. I'm obviously still doing something wrong. I opened the FSX cessna learner application folder from the Nav trainer download into a separate file. I opened that application where I found two files labelled "Gauges" and "SimObjects". I moved those into their respective folders in FSX and still nothing.

Were they files named Gauges and SimObjects, or 'Folders'?

If they are Folders, you open them and place the contents of those folders into their respective FSX Gauges and SimObjects folders.

I just downloaded the nav trainer and installed it to FSX steam. No problem. In the past I installed this to the box edition.

This is the default path that the installer chooses. You have to change the path to wherever you have FSX. Just FSX, don't direct it to other folders.

Open the folder called "Simobjects"...Now open the folder called "airplanes"....You now have the aircraft folder called "LEARNER" This is what you will place in your FSX/Simobjects/airplanes folder.

Open the Gauges folder....Copy and Paste all of the gauges to either your FSX/Gauges folder or paste them directly into LEARNER/panel folder.

Ohhhh, it's completely different panel than the default C-172. Made specifically for Navigation Training. What ever sort. Dead reckoning, ADF, VOR, whatever. Made just for THIS SITE, which is also where you can DL the plane. Some really great, and effective, Nav training for the MSFS, both FSX and FS9.

Hope this helps!
