Flightsimmers are being cheated horriblye!!!!!!

MS Flight Sim 2000 was one of the worst performing Microsoft Simulators ever made. Microsoft acknowledeged this, and made two patches for both FS versions. These helped minor problems, and increased performance by just a touch, but FS2K is still not performing how it should, we don't even have landing lights for god sake! And now their designing FS2K2, which fixes all of the FS2K bugs, and adds some new planes and ATC. WHY THE HELL SHOULD WE HAVE TO PAY 80 DAMN DOLLARS FOR A PATCH. Now you are probably saying "well...you don't have to buy it, you can just settle for FS2K", thats a bunch of horse sh**! We put up with Microsoft and their crap for over a year now, and I think FS2K users deserve better than an 80 dollar patch. Shoot, I bet for 80 dollars, we can Fix FS2K, and buy a Caravan and Baron for FS2K, and it should be just fine. I really feel that this is BS and this situation needs to be addressed!

FS2002 isnt just a patch. While it does fix some of the problems, thats not what they based the production of the game off of. Have you even looked at the pictures of the game? I'm not sure if they made a new engine(which they probably did) but a patch can't total add new graphics to a game to make it look completely different. Plus the auto gen, they had to reprogram the scenery to allow for this. Along with AI aircraft, like u said the atc and new planes, this one is much better. Each plane was totally reconstructed. They also have made the game run a LOT smoother for higher graphics, so thats why i think its a new engine. This definantly is not a patch. Its a brand new game because of all of the differences. You could say its a patch, and you could also say FS98 was a patch of FS95. Say what you'd like, but a flightsim update is not a whole new game in sence, its improved graphics, play quality, and realism.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002 will be the third generation of the new Flight Simulator Engine(Fs2000-CFS2-FS2002). If you have watched the trends whenever Microsoft releases a new engine, it sucks.

I don't know if FS2002 is just a natural progression from CFS2 -- after all, they HAVEN'T RELEASED IT YET!!!! I'm so sick of hearing people bash the product before virtually anyone has flown it. And the ones who've flown early versions are just knocked out by it.

Am I the only one who noticed a significant performance improvement from FS2000 to CFS2? I mean, there's no comparison on my machine! FS2000 is, agreed, a bit of a pig to fly in, and often is unsatisfactory. But CFS2 is a really nice platform for flying, and I enjoy it thoroughly. It looks better, performs more smoothly, and generally "feels" a lot more realistic. Sure they have a ways to go, but I feel they're on the right track. If FS2002 improves on the engine in CFS2, we're in for a lot of fun!

FS4-2nd generation: people thought it waw the greatest
FS5-3rd geteration: people loved it just as much
FS5WS(somthing like that)- 1nd generation: HORRIBLE worse than FS2000 at the time
FS6- 2nd generation: GREAT, many still use it
CFS- 3rd generation: EVEN BETTER, very popular
FS7-1st generation: FS2000 speaks for its self
CFS2-2nd generation: GREAT
FS2002-3rd generation: See CFS

You guys are all wrong. I have seen the new FS2002, have seen it since being at Fanstock, and I can tell you every good thing you hear about FS2002 is 100% TRUE. YOU ARE GOING TO FALL TO TO FLOOR AND SCREAM WITH EXCITEMENT the day you get FS2002.

Take that to the bank, stop predicting junk and get on with your lives.

Go get TrainSim, and enjoy the first of MS new simulations that are winners!

I am not kidding here, at last the complainers will have to SEARCH for gripes in this one... they will be out of a job!

Be advised Peter. I am not saying that FS2K2 is a bad simulator. From your reports and others (which I have followed closely), it seems that it may very well be the greatest MSFS to date. BUT, I think that Flightsimmers should still be rewarded for putting up with an 80 dollar "box-o-crap". FS2K2 buyers that have previously owned MSFS2K should get a discount, or some extras or something.

You should check your facts before spouting off! There is in fact a discount available for owners of previous versions. There is a 15US/25CDN dollar rebate offer with fs2002. This follows the tradition of rebates for previous users of at least fs98. I can't speak to earlier versions, cause I have not had anything prior to 98.

Hey Peter,

We all know the history, and have "been there done that" when it comes to this stuff. MSFS is a bargain, no matter how you look at it.

Anyway, perhaps if we're lucky, a certain FS web site will call a boycott of FS2002, like they did with FS98- :-lol

They're always looking for sensationalism, right? :-lol

Just do me favor and start to screen some of those op-eds, and Flightsim.com will be just fine, as will FS2002! :-)
