RatRace
With medium settings you should be able to get 30+ fps. However, I see two potential problems: 1) 16 - 20 GB of RAM is recommended. See if you can upgrade to at least 16 GB. 2) The AMD 8670 might also be a problem. If you want to stick with AMD, a Radeon R9 280x would be the better option. Also, the amount of VRAM is important (the more, the better - 4GB at least). At any rate, do not expect smooth performance with ultra high settings. bwa
Many people tend to forget that FSX was also considered an unreasonably heavy sim when it came out. System specs just caught up. That said, I'm not sure how smooth FSX runs on your setup. XPlane should run fine with those specs. Just not very high detail. But in my opinion XP looks quite nice at lower settings as well. The major strength of XP is in the flight dynamics. If you like realism in that sense. I run at 30 fps at custom scenery airports, on top of Simheaven W2XP, on top of Zonephoto photosceneries in combination with some other stuff. These are my system specs: i7 2600K @ 3,8 Ghz | Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 (3,5 GB VRAM) | 16GB RAM DDR3 | system on SSD, XP on HDD. And these are the results. Not every aircraft is as heavy or light to run. The Airfoillabs C172 is quite heavy in scenery dense areas. But I still feel I can run my sim fine.
