Some P3D Screens As Requested...

Recommended Posts

Rupert was wondering why nobody ever posts P3D screenshots here and more or less implied it was because P3D doesn't look good which opposes my view so I thought I'd post a few. Maybe I don't know what I'm looking at but I thought they looked pretty good. What does flightsim.com think, are these lousy screenshots?

Hi Jim,

LOL - well that's one way to make a point... Each shot is a work of art - superb job - sir ! Yeah - I prefer P3D as well - I've been using Reshade with Master Effect myself - as it truly adds a lot of "pop" to the scenes... I think it's time to finally replace my 4:3 monitor - been noting people raving about the 21:9's...

Keep up the good work...

Regards,

Scott

Remarkable pics, Jim! I'm in the process of populating P3D V 3.2 with a few addon aircraft but have not heard of the Reshade with Master Effect. Since I use DSR, would Reshade add more depth?

@Jim S...the aircraft pictured are definitely not P3D stock ;)

So how would the exact add-ons and pics look from FSX? Don't need to answer because we already know the answer! Take 2 exact screen shots from FSX and P3D and lay or post them side by side and see if you can tell the difference!! Let's compare apples to apples here!!!

Hi Joe,

If interested - here are the effects I use - http://reshade.me/presets

I can't hot link the page - I think it's 33 - then open the presets for P3D...

I use the one with the most downloads - P3D V3 Realistic Lighting - inside that preset there is a comment with full instructions on how to install it plus download links... Once installed - I actually liked the config from the one listed below it - Real Atmospheric for P3D V3 - so I just copied the config file into my previous install...

I can't go back to flying without it...

Hi Folks,

Also - the original poster's premise was that P3D shots can look good - he didn't say FSX looks bad - so in my book he proved his point... I don't get all the angst over FSX in a P3D post...

Scott

Apparently I misunderstood your post. I thought you were referring to the aircraft.

Jimbo, of course it's not stock P3D, "stock" wasn't a stipulation, the comment I wanted to respond to was this (from a rant posted in the P3D forum):

My question is, IF P3D HAS SUCH WONDERFUL CLOUDS, SHADOWS, & WATER WHY DON'T THOSE WHO LOVE SCREENSHOTS LOAD THE P3D SCREENSHOT FORUM UP WITH TONS OF SHOTS? And no, it isn't people aren't willing to pay for P3D. Many FSX screenshot posters have multiple hundreds of dollars invested in their pay-ware scenery. IMHO it is because P3D doesn't look nearly as good with any given FSX/P3D scenery.

Incidentally I disagree that you won't be able to tell the difference between 2 shots, one from each sim. For one thing FSX DX10 water wins hands down over P3D water any day. My point isn't and never has been that P3D is better than FSX, my point is that I feel I should be allowed to use P3D, talk about using P3D, and post screenshots of it without being attacked since I'm not on the attack against anyone who uses and enjoys FSX.

Scott & Joe, thanks for the comments, much appreciated. Thanks for the link Scott, I'll give it a try :)

Hi Scott,

Quick question as I have never used these: From what I see, one downloads the two programs/plugins, and then uses the preset.

Looking at the presets page, I see the preset itself is just 1 file. So if you say you liked "the config" of the one below better, does that mean you're actually using the second preset of the two? (meaning you only mentioned the first so that he could see the instructions?)

Thanks!

Hi Walter,

Yep - I think you have it... There are comments with links to downloads in the first preset - which I fully installed... The first preset actually added a noise effect I think some mentioned not liking - so I just copied the preset from the second one... The actual files were all installed in their proper places via the first install - so I only needed the config file change from the second one to change it... Just holler if you need anything further...

Regards,

Scott
