what can I use from an old flight simulator, to use with fsx

Hi all just a quick introduction my name is Jeff, I am retired and live in the UK, and I am new to fsx, I bought an old AST-300 flight simulator to play with but soon realised there is more computing power in my phone, so I bought fsx and would like to use some of the controls, yoke, rudder pedals, throttle quadrant, but what about the gauges, they are for ground based trainers so is there a way to connect some or all of them

any help or thoughts would be welcome

I would use FSUIPC to connect everything. It is a program that connects the controllers to FSX. It will be a lot of reading to get familiar but worth it.

I am not entirely sure, but I assume most of the gauges are analogue, which would require some sort of digital to analogue converter.

You nay gave better luck with the radios as they look to be a digital upgrade. Good luck.

Hi Jeff,

Done the same myself.

The throttle and yoke can be used by attaching them to a joystick board, I bought the BU0836X from http://www.leobodnar.com/shop/ this will operate 8 analogue inputs from the pots and 32 button / 16 rotary encoder inputs. You also get a POH input. Not bad for the price. The good news is, I tried it and it works. The software on P3D picks it us as BU0836X and the pots and buttons are all programmable. At that price I may get another...

Since the POTs are all old I will probably replace with rotary Hal sensors.

That leaves the gauges... Mine are analogue and seem to work on voltage, just voltmeters in a 0 to 5v range. (at least some do)..So I am looking for a suitable interface for them.

I stripped the sim Right down to its individual parts and will build from the ground up. I want to put some sort of flight feedback on the yoke which will use the voltage from the airspeed indicator to linearly harden the controls.

I am still waiting for a good piston twin software that replicates single engine handling characteristics well. That would allow the sim to be used for training.
