Afterburners timing

beroun

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a nice ARNZ AIS CONCORDE and have just obtained fx_GA_CONCORDE_AFTERBURNER effect. Unfortunately the burners turn on even before turning for take off and stay on during all flight, which is obviously incorrect. I would need the burners to be realistic, "on at take off roll and off after airborne". (Just like my most military AI aircraft do with 'fx_f16_ab' and similar.)

Is there any way I can adjust timing of the after burners? Any help would be much appreciated.

My Concorde lights with burners:

[lights]

//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing

light.0 = 3, -84, -42, -6.5, fx_navredh

light.1 = 3, -84, 42, -6.5, fx_navgreh

light.2 = 3, -139.87, 0, 2.14, fx_navwhih

light.3 = 2, -88, -42, -6.5, fx_strobeh

light.4 = 2, -88, 42, -6.5, fx_strobeh

light.5 = 2, -139.88, 0, 2.76, fx_strobeh

light.6 = 1, -26.31, 0, 5.98, fx_beaconh

light.7 = 1, -43.76, 0, -6.77, fx_beaconb

light.8 = 7, -99.00, -18.55, -4.54 , fx_nicksmokeAI_707 // Engine 0

light.9 = 7, -99.00, -13.85, -4.54 , fx_nicksmokeAI_707 // Engine 1

light.10 = 7, -99.00, 13.85, -4.54 , fx_nicksmokeAI_707 // Engine 2

light.11 = 7, -99.00, 18.55, -4.54 , fx_nicksmokeAI_707 // Engine 3

light.12 = 2, -93.50, -20.30, -6.60 , fx_GA_CONCORDE_AFTERBURNER // Engine 0

light.13 = 2, -93.50, -15.20, -6.60 , fx_GA_CONCORDE_AFTERBURNER // Engine 1

light.14 = 2, -93.50, 15.20, -6.60 , fx_GA_CONCORDE_AFTERBURNER // Engine 2

light.15 = 2, -93.50, 20.30, -6.60 , fx_GA_CONCORDE_AFTERBURNER // Engine 3

If you notice that the afterburner effects are energized when you turn on your strobe lights. Didn't your original Concorde download come with working AB?

Are you observing this aircraft as AI or are you flying it yourself?

Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!  ✈️

Quite often, there is a gauge added to either the VC or 2d panel. Invisable. All it does is turn the strobe lights (slash AB's in this case) on and off at the right throttle settings.

Was there such a gauge to add into the panel.cfg someplace? If not, it looks to me like you will have to do it manually.

That's the trouble with using the [lights] section for effects like that. I know there are a number of other AB effects out there that are triggered solely by the throttle positions, and normally put in the [Effects] section. Perhaps you could "borrow" one of those from a different aircraft?

Just my few, and rare, may I add, thoughts on the subject...

Good luck!

Had a thought...then there was the smell of something burning, and sparks, and then a big fire, and then the lights went out! I guess I better not do that again!

Change the afterburner lines from

light.12 = 2, -93.50, -20.30, -6.60 , fx_GA_CONCORDE_AFTERBURNER // Engine 0 to

light.12 = 6, -93.50, -20.30, -6.60 , fx_GA_CONCORDE_AFTERBURNER // Engine 0

Then add this line to the panel cfg. window

numbering the gauge at the end of your other Gauges

[Window00]

file=f-16.bmp

size_mm=1024,768

window_size_ratio=1.00

position=7

visible=1

ident=0

no_luminous=1

zorder=1

ident=MAIN_PANEL

window_size= 0.333, 1.000

window_pos= 0.333, 0.000

gauge29=DSBXML!DSBAburner, 0,0

then locate the dsbxml gauge folder from say Dinnos F14 download I think or the F16 gauge folder and drop that folder into your main gauge folder and your after burners will ignite at 93% throttle.

Did I get that right Mr Zippy?
