Project Airbus A320 FD-FMC release

Recommended Posts

Looking forward to the new cockpit for the A320. It might solve the only problem I have, and that is the VC panel is black, making it almost impossible to read the labels for all the switches and dials. Loving the FMC. Doing a series of test flights to get up to speed with the functionality of this must have program.

Check "Texture" folder. It contains VC texture,

So, maybe you have installed a new livrery and the texture folder of this new livrery has wrong "Texture.cfg" file.

Check inside this file with a text editor, you must have the following lines to gat VC texture :

fallback.1=..\texture

fallback.2=..\..\..\..\Scenery\Global\texture

fallback.3=..\..\..\..\..\..\Scenery\Global\texture

Fdd_fr, thanks for that. I will check when I am next on my PC. Also, I have noticed that when I add a SID, the initial flight plan waypoints from the runway to the last SID point are not removed, meaning the aircraft flies the SID, then turns back to the airport and commences the original flightplan route. The same happens with the Star. The aircraft flies direct to the airport, then turns away and starts the standard arrival. I did not see any mention of having to manually delete obsoleted way points when entering SID's and Stars in your excellent FMC Manual.

If you load a SID and a STAR, you needs only "Airways En route" waypoints. But when you create a VOR to VOR or high alt airways flight plan with FSX, FSX insert waypoint from the departure to arrival, and not only "En route waypoints". So, this is the reasonn why you have this phenomenon.

So, you have two solution :

First solution :

Create a flight plan "GPS direct" airport to airport, and after loaded your SID and STAR, you can add by hand, "en route" waypoints with the FMC (you can find website like Rocketroute...that create a list waypoints, with the real route. This way is the most realistic.

Second solution :

Create a flight plan VOR to VOR or Airways, and before load your SID and STAR, delete with the gauge, all waypoints that are in a 200Nm radius of your departure and arrival to avoid to get a wrong trip track.

Good day All,

I have been trying for more than a week now to get the FD FMC to show me sids and stars for a flight from EGCC to EGLL. I can get all other info on the fmc.

I have checked and re checked for a mistake in the installation but cannot find one, other than I did not get a message box when I launched fsx about the dll change.

In section 5 in the installation manual it says to copy the XMLTools.dll to the fsx root folder.

If I unzip the XMLTools_v2 I see an XMLTools_v2 folder. If I open this folder I see 9 items including 2 file folders, 3 text docs, 3 adobe documents and an app ex named XMLTools.dll.

I would appreciate some advice. Must I copy the unzipped folder called XMLTools_v2 or the app ex XMLTools.dll to the fsx root folder?

I am running FSX on a W7 64 bit system and I have tried to add the C+++redistr files but my system refuses them as it already has newer versions of these.

I also have the aerosoft a320 on my system which has added lines to my original dll xml file but I would not think this should have affected anything( after I installed the airbus, fsx also did not ask me about changes to the dll)

Any help with this would be much appreciated

Thanks

Mike

Hello Mike,

You have just to copy the file "XMLTools.dll" in the main FSX root folder and declare the DLL in the "DLL.XML" file.

If you never had the FSX message box, at launch, to accept this dll, then you declaration must be wrong.

When the DLL is correctly installed, you must have a line about its declaration in the [Trusted] section of your fsx.cfg file.

Post here the content of your DLL.XML file and I will look at the problem.

Hi fdd_fr, many thanks for pointing me to the correct file. I now have sids and stars and am getting set up for a first flight. I don't seem to be able to turn the hdg and alt buttons with the mouse wheel but I am waiting to see if this kicks in further into the instruction manual.

Thanks again

Mike

Good news.

Think that you have now a real Airbus FCU : each knob can be pushed or pulled and return always at their neutral position.

To select HDG, Speed or Alt, you must be in "Selected mode" (pulled each knob), but think that in the most cases, managed mode are used (with FMC data).

There will be next week a panel update, to fix some bugs, and add new features.

The most important new features will be :

- Capability to do LOC back course approach (use the Opposite runway ILS signal as localizer) used on some aiports

- Multible gradient leg approaches required for some airports as VNKT Khatmandou

See picture below :

fsx 2015-11-22 16-40-53-36.jpg

Panel 1.11 is in final test....

- Airport folders must be placed in FD_FMC folder; It is mandatory

- Aiport Folders name must be have only the ICAO 4 characters code; If an airport has a longer name, this is because it is designed to work with a specific addon scenery, or it requires that you install an updated AFCAD (BGL file provided in the airport folder that you must move in you "Addon Scenery\scenery\" folder). In this case, you have always a readme.txt file or an install.txt file. Read it to know what you have to do. But in final, you will have to rename the airport folder only with its 4 char ICAO code.

Sheme is the following :

- FD_FMC folder must be placed at the root of the main FSX folder.

- It contains all Airports folders named only with their 4 letters ICAO code.

- Each airport folder must contains all the "*.csv" files. (not in a subfolder !)

- FD_FMC folder must contains the FDC_path.ini file, which include the path where FSX saves ist flight plan and savegames files.

If your have other question, I am here.

So, A320 FD-FMC panel update v1.11 is available : http://freenavdbgroup.com/?p=887

What's new with this update :

- New LOC Backcourse approach mode, when available on airport :Backcourse mode allows to use ILS signal of the opposite runway to get a Localizer guidance to land. (e.g KRDD Redding, Rwy 16 approach).

- Approach Gradient data for each leg of an approach can be included in approach data file, and used by FD-FMC

- In previous version, ILS scale appeared as soon as a LOC approach loaded; Now, with v1.11, ILS scale appears as soon as you are in approach : bug fixed

- When you renounced to take-off, all callout and some take data was lost. Now, after a « reject take-off », all system are reset.

- You can now use VFR flight plan; FD-FMC is able to save VFR flight plan : bug fixed

- Airport information page (Departure and arrival) display now runways from 3000 feet and more. Previous version displayed runways 4000 feet and longer.

- Cruise mode had a bug : When you selected a flight level lower than actual, above the crossover altitude (mach mode) IAS value was not updated during the descent to the new flight level : bug fixed.

- New feature to display SID and STAR index, with the possibility to have skip lines for more clarity (Thank you Wulf for this excellent idea !)

- New background bitmaps for displays, when aircraft is cold and dark

- XML code improved for better performance

New Approach gradient management :

http://freenavdbgroup.com/Freenav/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Gradient.jpg

New possibility to skip lines in SID or STAR list (this feature comes from Wulf )

http://freenavdbgroup.com/Freenav/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Skipline.jpg

7 new airports :

- EGAA – Belfast Aldergrove – United Kingdom – By Jean-Pierre Varnier

- FACT – Cape Town – South Africa – By Georges

- KACV – Arcata/Eureka – USA (California) – By Wulf Bindewald

- KMFR – Roghe Valley/Medford – USA (Oregon) – By Wulf Bindewald

- KSAN – San Diego – USA (California) – By francois Dore

- LDZA – Zagrb/Plezo – Croatia – By Philippe Bronier

- LKPR – Praha – Czech Republic – By Philippe Bronier

Updates :

- KASE – Add gradient data in approach file (requires panel 1.11)

- NTAA – Fix some errors in STAR data

- VNKT – Add gradient data in approaches files (requires panel 1.11)

New AIRAC file : 11282015

Think that since the aircraft is available (end of september), more than 20 airports have been added to the database. You can download them on the Freenavdbgroup website.

Freenav airport database is updated weekly (and AIRAC file so ! )

It is very important to check freenav website for update ! Gop to the Freenavdbgroup Airport database menu to download new and updated airports.

Airport creation toolkit (airport manual and EXCEL workbook file) will be updated with these new features, in some hours.

Good flight !

Hi Francois, I have done the panel update and all looks good.

Your update refers to updated aircraft cfg files. I have checked both the updated one and the original and they both have " last update 25/09/2015" at the end of the cfg file. Is this correct please?

Thanks

Mike

Maybe I forgot to change the date; So, the aircraft.cfg provided with the panel update is always the last version in use, because I do often small improvements. So I recommend to use always the aircraft.cfg provided with panel update; You are sure to get the last version.

Hello,

2 news :

The A318 FD-FMC is now available on Flightsim library:

https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/fslib.php?do=copyright&fid=188423

FD-FMC is now in version 1.12.1. This new version brings new features (read the manual).

So, this version manage now the wing deice. But the new deice code occurs a small graphic bug : The X-bleed position in the VC is wrong, because there is a error in the original micosoft MDL file of the A321 VC.

So, think that is the 2D overhead panel that show the tru position of the X-Bleed.

THis bug is temporary. I am working to edit the VC texture to prevent this bug (AUTO and SHUT position will be inverted).

Will be fixed in the next panel update.

FD-FMC is updated also for the A320 (v1.12.1 now). You can download the A320 update panel here : http://freenavdbgroup.com/?page_id=159

Please note that this update requires the A320 FD-FMC V1.0 pack.

Airport database has now 170 airports. The last version is provided with the A318 pack.

You can download new airport on freenavdbgroup website.

Good flight.

Hi Francois,

A Happy New Year to you and many thanks for the A318. I have installed it and all is working except I still cannot get the mouse wheel to operate any of the knobs on the A/P and yes I have tried all in selected mode and in mixed mode but no response when I scroll the mouse wheel.

My mouse wheel works with default aircraft and aerosoft a320 but not with pa320 and a318.

Can you give me any help as to what I can do please.

Thank You

Mike

Hi Francois,

My apologies for the delay in getting back to you , however I have had eye problems which resulted in surgery so have not been able to fly or use computer. I am now getting back into FS.

My FSX is the deluxe edition with the Acceleration pack.

Scrolling in both 2D and VC does not work in either managed or selected modes.

The pointer(hand) flickers when the scroll wheel is turned, just as if it is sending the signal to do something but the numbers in the window make no effort to move.

Any advice as to where to look for the answer would be appreciated.

Thanks

Mike
