FSX Cameras and view from Tower?

Hi there, Was just wondering if there is any way to get rid of the lines you get when you zoom out of a tower. You seem to get annoying parts of the tower going straight across your screen. If not is there any kind of 'Free Roam' camera you can get to plonk yourself wherever you want, thanks for the help!

my solution was to simply make the two default tower cameras movable so I could lift myself up/down for better positioning inside or lift above the tower to avoid all interference.

If you chose to modify your cameras.cfg, be sure to make a backup copy of the original (although there should be a backup copy in the root FSX folder...)

The two movable tower cameras:

Both use the same controls as moving in the VC but there is an important difference in the Facilities version: it DOES NOT STOP when keys are released; you must 'reset view' (Control+Spacebar for me) to stop movement. Movement is actual east-west and north-south and not related to your viewing direction. Both views can be panable IF you have set a key to unlock user aircraft tracking (i.e. assign some key to the "view track/pan toggle" feature)

the cameras.cfg that needs to be edited is the copy in the same folder as FSX.cfg and NOT the copy in the FSX install folder.

I saved these posts from people a while back so I might as well throw them into the playpen for good measure-

------------------------------------------------------------

Every airport should already have a control tower... furthermore, there's an option in the controls to toggle 'tracking' on/off when in a tower so you can pan in the direction you'd like vs. tracking your plane.

If you want to get more fancy, in the cameras cfg edit the "XyzAdjust = False"

to "XyzAdjust = True". Then you can use the same buttons you use to move about the cabin to move your 'tower view' to wherever you'd like around the airfield.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

The tower view is, by default, locked to the user; to enable panning go to controls/buttons and keys setup and scroll to the bottom to find

VIEW track/pan (toggle) and assign a key (combination) to toggle the pan feature on/off.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Instead of Tower View, you should make use of the new functionality: CameraView, with this you can insert as many views as you want, where ever you want. For example at the end of each runway etc.

No need for a lot of wanna-bee towers, just create a CameraView and name it to your linkings. Voila there you go.

It's all in the SDK.
