Leaving Vegas

Recommended Posts

Here's a series of shots of an Allegiant Air MD-83 making an early morning departure from Las Vegas (KLAS) with a load of passengers many of whom who just spent their last dime in the slots at the boarding gate :D:D:D

The early morning rays of the rising sun light up the Mandalay Bay Hotel as our plane waits for takeoff clearance

Lined up ready to go

Off the ground. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to stay in the casino until 5:00 a.m. before leaving for the airport:D:D How soon can we order a Bloody Mary? We've got to be above 10,000 for the flight attendants to start doing their thing. Figure we're doing 2-3000 fpm in the climb. Works out to about 5 minutes. Alrighty then:D

End to end view of the Vegas strip over the wing from our seat 28E

Gear up! Climb checklist. The party goes on for us passengers in the back but it's all business for the guys up front

Viva Las Vegas! So long. We'll win big next time for sure!:D

Very nice Bill, I hope you didn't lose to much money. :D

Adam, Larry, Kenny & Jim - many thanks for the comments.

I probably should stay away from Vegas since somehow I always manage to miss the part about "walk away when you're winning!!!" :D:D:D

Beautiful shots! I see these frequently at McCarran. (Except on Tuesdays; that's their maintenance day and most are grounded).

I also see the occasional 757 in Allegiant colors. They're expanding their fleet!

Well done Bill!

Thanks King - ever see the Janet birds? Oh wait - I forgot - those Janet planes are all in our imagination - flights to nowhere - nothing to see here - move along folks :D:D:D

Great shots and glad you enclosed specific descriptions on EACH of screenshots!

I did not know you built liquor bar lounge in back of your MD-83 like all airlines did with their planes in old times :) If you get my drift :)

Aharon

Aharon: no built in bar - just regular beverage cart service. Of course by the time they get to us in Row28 the flight will be over - probably should've booked first class:D:D:D

The first time I saw the Allegiant fleet must have been on a Tuesday! I was passing through to buy a home in Utah. It looked liked the whole airline had shut down...Liked the last shot best.

Very nice Bill, excellent soft light in these shots.

John - thanks for looking & the good words

Great series! Which MD-83 is this, and what Las Vegas and KLAS scenery?

Hogg: Thanks! The airplane is the payware CLS MD81/82 series, the Allegiant repaint is freeware here in the library, the KLAS airport is Ray Smith's FSX freeware version. Not sure about the Vegas strip - I think its the stock FSX scenery - maybe somebody else will recognize it
