Phenomenal! Plane and scenery both! Next time you pop into Kingsley Field, take a tour of Crater Lake, then stop up here at Chiloquin for a $100.00 Hamburger (a euphemism for a hamburger flown in for, BTW) at Melitas! DARN good food, and the rooms are a lot cheaper than in town. Right across the street from Transient Parking, all two spaces. Watch the traffic on 95 though! I actually had to wait for TWO cars to go by once! It was terrible :D

I was just a the Field the other day, matter of fact. Had to get a rental car for my wife to drive over to Medford, since we no longer have any local airline service. I hope the F-15's weren't too thick when you flew in. We have the only F-15 flight school in the country now, so some days they are as thick as flies on a...HOG! Yeah, hog.

Love that part of the world.

Mr. Bean, I do too! I grew up near Redding, and as you can see above, I live in Chiloquin now. Every morning I take my coffee and look out across Upper Klamath Lake (I live atop a hill to it's East) and say to myself, "I can't believe I actually live here!"

No way I can live down in the Bay Area any more, sadly, especially in Woodside, where I was lucky enough to have grown up. 8 years ago, $1 million dollars for a bare dirt, 1/4 acre lot. No services even. Absurd, IMO.

Anyway, thanks again for such a great set of piccy's! Amazing detail in all of them.

Pat☺

Had a thought...then there was the smell of something burning, and sparks, and then a big fire, and then the lights went out! I guess I better not do that again!

K-Falls is definitely a neat airport to fly into IRL. Haven't been there in the sim. I flew a Cirrus SR20 in there from Bend, OR and OMG were there a lot of F-15s. Had 3 taxiing in front of me, 2 behind me, 4 on the warmup pad, think 4 took off while I was taxiing back for takeoff. Was a really awesome place to be for a newer pilot lol.

Only F-15 flight school left in the AF. When I first got to Klamath Falls, it had a National guard squadron up, only a few F-15's, not many flights/month. Quiet, sleepy airport, really. Then the AF designated it for the only F-15 school, and WHAM! It got busy fast! Made life a lot more exiting there, that's for sure. Understandable, though, that we got selected. LONG runway, rated for very heavy aircraft. Also, the approach is got "hard" altitudes. IE: on this leg of the approach, at this point, you WILL be at this altitude and heading. That sort of thing. They do have some bunkers, and after my experiences at MCAS Yuma, and the bunkers out at YPG, I suspect they are at least set up to take nuclear weapons, even if none are present atm. Just my opinion, of course.

Unfortunately, we lost all commercial air service about then too. The AF is still upset about that, and clamoring for the airport, the city and anyone else possibly involved to get some sort of commercial service back.

Apparently, "talks are in progress". According to the paper, anyway. Maybe by January or so. We shall see!

Great day to all!

Pat☺
