What bmp format do I save the edited map.bmp to so SbuilderX can compile to a map.bgl

Hello:

I have a SbuilderX map.bmp.

I have DXTBmp. And Paint Shop Pro v8.5

There should be someway to use DXTBmp to add mask then Paint Shop Pro to edit and save back to DXTBmp / SBuilderX

I would like to edit out most of surrounding runway, ramps and roads textures.

What bmp format do I save the edited map.bmp to so SbuilderX can compile to the map.bgl.

Thanks:

24 bit bitmap works fine for masks. They need to be grayscale.

Look at- https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?250762-How-to-create-photoreal-scenery-for-FSX&p=1690194#post1690194

I know the mask has to be gray scale

What bmp format do i use to save the /bmp/mask.

As far as i know Paint Shop Pro will only save as merged and deleting the mask.

Every bmp format I try SBuilderX rejects.

I know Paint Shop Pro can do this, I see the mask but image info states no alpha

I have save, I don't have export and it saves as a merged bmp

When compiled just shows black over textures

The blendmask is a grayscale bitmap that you use with resample. It needs no Alpha channel, a 24 bit bitmap is fine.

Load your photo image in PSP.

Add a transparent layer and paint on that layer any part of the background image that you do not want to see in FSX.

Use solid black (0,0,0 RGB) to cover any part of the image that you do not want to see in the sim. You can use a grayscale gradient on the edge of the solid black so there is not a hard edge, using a soft brush will do it.

When you are done painting the black add another layer between the black mask and the background. Paint the new layer white (255,255,255, RGB). Now you can flattem the image and save as your blendmask.

Still struggling to adapt your instructions to Paint Shop Pro.

PSP does not have a direct Add a transparent layer.

I do have (Menu) Layers/ New Mask Layer/hide all, show all, hide selection, show selection. from image.

Well I did get the map.bmp to have sort of a transparent area but Have no Idea how I did it.

I used eraser tool on map.bmp and I think black on mask but I can't see the black as I paint it

Ill keep working on it..

That picture makes me think you are painting on the image itself.

You need to have 2 image files to process with resample. 3 if you have a watermask.

One is the unedited image from SBuilderX.

The second is the blendmask which is a grayscale image, white, black and shades of gray.

You do not paint the blendmask on the photo image.
