cockpitApr30A.jpgcockpitApr301.jpgHello everyone, I have been a member on this great site for about ten years. I have been away for about a year or so, busy building my baby (747 pit.)

It is far from being finished - most probably it never be - as there is always something else to add or improve upon, but it is now (finally) at a decent - presentable stage.

I would like to share what I have done so far.

The site is

http://www.boeing747sim.com

I hope you like it

Thank you in advance for visiting.

Mark

Hi Mark. I suspect everyone else is too stunned to comment. Awesome job! Very impressive. That looks like it was a heck of a lot of work. You're lucky you have the connections for those original parts.----From a fellow Calgarian flight-simmer.

I applaud your effort, your ingenuity, and your dedication, you have a masterpiece there! Unfortunately, it does limit your flying experience of one aircraft type. I could never be that restrictive when it comes to what basically is a game. I know, I know, it's not a game, it's a sim. Really? Seems to me that every version of MS-x costs under $100.00, yet you cant rent an hour in a real simulator for that kind of money; so, it really is more a game than a simulator. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but I wouldn't want to climb into a 747 cockpit just to fly around in a Beech Baron!

Thank you for the compliment KCD, much appreciated.

Re: your "restrictive comments" - the $100 sim vs. game argument you are referring to - all that, simply does not apply to me - maybe it does to you but not to me. I must say that while I do fully understand where you're coming from - as I had to make that same very decision myself when I first decided to go the one-plane route, it is really not an issue at all. If you visited my site (http://www.boeing747sim.com) I described that very process of choosing a single plane there in detail.

But to clarify, firstly, it is not the actual "flying" the plane that makes building a dedicated sim worthwhile but the 'building" process itself, the countless hours you spend in adding more and more detail to it every day - and seeing your "creation" becoming ever more and more beautiful everyday. If I had to quantitate it I would say that 80% of my time goes in "refining" the sim and 20% in flying.

Secondly, I never-ever fly anything else other than the queen in this sim, that would be like getting into a Lamborghini and wanting it to behave as a Honda civic - the gauges wouldn't fit the MIP anyways, I do have a second setup however - on a 32" screen if I wanted to fly any other plane - but the funny thing is that I never do, I mean, why would I? So I use the second setup as a test platform basically, to test custom sounds or add-ons before I install them on the 747.

Picture this my friend. You open your garage door and you have in there a bunch of Chevy cavaliers, a few Toyotas, fords etc. etc., and one single beautiful Ferrari. Which car would you rather take for a spin?

I hope that helps YOU - should you decide to go the one-plane route one day.

Cheers! Marco.
