asos
I have David Eckert's fs9 B-26 Marauder, file [hhiker.zip] and I also have the fsx v. of the same plane, file [marauder-1.zip-- Dave Eckert ori, A.F.Scrub FSX mod]. One of the repaints I installed in fs9 is file [bellerng.zip], "Belleringer". I tried to install the Belleringer textures into FSX. Most of them show ok except the starboard wing unders and the vertical fin textures. I tried saving the fin texture [b26rudd.bmp] into other formats through DXT3,but the texture still showed wrong. Is there anything I can do to correct the problem? I attach an image of the faulty repaint, no. 22 on fin.
StringBean
Check the Alpha channel on b26rudd.bmp. Are you using DXTBmp for texture conversion? If so, load that texture up and look at the little Alpha window, top right. If it is very dark/black, there is a menu option to invert the Alpha. peace, the Bean WWOD---What Would Opa Do? asos
Bean, Thanks. Through your hint, I managed to fix the vertical fin surface. My DXT showed no option to invert the channel but I sent the upper right hand texture to editor--Photoshop-and made it all a very light grey. Then saved it as DXTBmp (no alpha) from the trans.bmp that was made (or was it norm.bmp?).... Now the wing texture has a similar problem but I tried the same way and it did not work. That texture is named [b26_wing1.bmp] and though it shows one wing, it covers both right and left wing overs and unders--unusual mapping.... I may email A.F. Scrub or Eckert for help, or both. StringBean
Trans.bmp is the Alpha, norm.bmp is the RGB. Take a look at b26_insig.bmp Also,... peace, the Bean WWOD---What Would Opa Do? asos
Stringbean, The fin is fixed, but I stil have large rectangles on port upper and stb lower wing with the sme see-through problem--one can see the scenery through them. I inverted the Alpha in both the wing texture and the insignia texture, and the problem persists in fsx. I aslo installed the plane in my 2nd pc, same problem.... See if you can install this skin yourself [bellerng.zip], and if thereafter you can find a way to fix it, if you have the time. The problem exists with a 2nd repaint I placed in the fsx Marauder,[b26319.zip], but if we can fix one, the same method will fix all other repaints that may have this problem. I will do a repaint myself, of an RAF desert scheme, to begin with. and upload it. There is a paint kit available. Nick
StringBean
If I can make the time I will try, no promises. However FSX and FS9 handle transparency differently. The insignia texture is laid over the wing texture with transparent sections letting the wing "show through". FSX can have troubles dealing with situations like this on legacy aircraft so be prepared for this not to work in FSX. However the plane will fly OK, even with holes in the wing. ;) peace, the Bean WWOD---What Would Opa Do? Farewell, my freind (sp) Never argue with idiots. StringBean
Well, that was easy. Using FSX/A and the downloaded textures, all I did was convert b26_insig.bmp to a DXT1/no Alpha and I get... peace, the Bean WWOD---What Would Opa Do? asos
Bean, I think that repaint you converted had no problem on the wings nor anywhere else, but will check on that. The problem is with the Belle Ringer repaint's wings. I am almoSt finished with my new repaint of an RAF desert Marauder named DOMINION REVENGE, of no.14 sqn RAF in the Middle East. Attached one image. The D was later changed into black and some weathering in the form of paint chipped off was added. Will post more images when I take more screenshots. Nick, Athens. asos
Stringbean, Apologies--you had converted the right skin, 22 on fin... I did what you advised (DXT1, no alpha) and it worked!!! See screenshot. Many thanks for your help and patience with me. I will also be uploading the desert skin soon. Nick
