Increasing Engine Power.

Would like to know how to increase engine power in the aircraft config file. The aircraft i want to increase power on is a A321-200. I'm having issues with only being able to climb at about 1000 ft a min and as low as 500 the higher i get and i'm not as cruise level.

Here you go. This 'operation' is just a 'quick & dirty' mod. Let us know how it worked for you. Your milage may vary? Limitations may apply? Not 'real'? (Who cares, right?).

You can also try a very raw (but effective) setting ....

inlet_area=29.3000

 

If you increase the number the aircraft speed will be lower

So in your case .. decrease this number !

Test some different values until satisfied ....

 

BTW if it's the A321 from Project Airbus ... it's odd as mine is (after my setting)

inlet_area=31.000//29.3000

And initial climb with no problems between 2.500 - 3.000 ft / minute

If you really want to do it right, google a PDF file called jet_flow_chart.pdf at a place called Mudpond.org. I don't think I'm supposed to put that site up as a link, so that's the best I can offer.

You will need a goof Air File Editor, like AirEd, available on this site as freeware. I've heard both pro's and con's about it, but I love it.

Couple the PDF file and AirEd and you can make any jet engine as accurate as if it were real life.

 

By the by, that Inlet_area tweak really only affects the aircraft's to end at it's optimum altitude, at 0 cargo/passenger weight and only 50% fuel. Give it a whole number change, set up a flight at whatever altitude (say 36,000, for example), 50%fuel, etc, give 'er full throttle and see what it maxes out at. It should wind up at about 5KIAS below the point where the OVERSPEED warning comes on (which number can be located in the aircraft.cfg file under [Reference Speeds]). If it's too fast, increase the whole number portion of the entry, try again. once you get real close, start changing the tenth's digit, then, if you want to get really accurate, the hundreth's.

Remember, after every change, you have to reload the aircraft. If you do that, though, make certain AI traffic is totally OFF, or the the game may not read all the aircraft's file's.

Things are a tad bit better. i'm still only getting a total of 94.4 N1 and N2 power and if i try to climb past FL280 even with a climb of 500 FT per min. I lose my airspeed and have to stop the climb. Need to get full power.

That's right. The 'old' setting for throttle rpm was '90.000'. I make mine '110.000'. Some modelers go by the SDK I am sure. But that don't mean it's correct (or rather it has been corrected but nobody 'heard' about it).

 

Don't forget to turn on PITOT HEAT or you will have problems at altitude.
