Problem with FSX Toolbars/menus

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I have a slight problem with the toolbar on FSX. when I enter a flight and press the 'Alt' key to make it show nothing appears. Another problem is that when I right-click in a flight no menu shows up. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but I am wanting to make missions for FSX. :confused: If anyone has a solution for me please tell me, I'm sure someone's been here before and had this problem and gotten it fixed.

Thanks,

P.S. I will try to post a video soon.

Look in your FSX.cfg under [Main] See if the order that these are in is the same as mine.

HideInfotext=0

HideMenuNormal=1

HideMenuFullscreen=1

Fiber_Frame_Fraction=0.5

ProcSpeed=3816

PerfBucket=5

Hi the,

From my perspective not being able to access the menu would be a big problem, normally or not. I don't recall ever hearing of this condition. I don't like to ask questions without having a guess as to what the problem might be I'm at a loss here. Let's try this: When you first installed FSX were you able to see the Menu? And if so what changes did you make that preceded the menu's disappearance?

mrzippy, the 'HideMenuNormal' and 'HideMenuFullscreen' are the same order as yours, but my hidemenunormal is set to 0, opposed to the 1 you gave me above. the rest is not present in the CFG file, under [Menu]

here's it copied from the CFG file:

[Main]

User Objects=Airplane, Helicopter

SimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\Airplanes

SimObjectPaths.1=SimObjects\Rotorcraft

SimObjectPaths.2=SimObjects\GroundVehicles

SimObjectPaths.3=SimObjects\Boats

SimObjectPaths.4=SimObjects\Animals

SimObjectPaths.5=SimObjects\Misc

HideMenuNormal=0

HideMenuFullscreen=1

Location=1206,690,1366,728,\\.\DISPLAY1

Maximized=2

ProcSpeed=4788

PerfBucket=7

should I change the value of HideMenuNormal to 1 and add the other parts as they are in yours?

I don't think changing any of the other numbers to mine will help. From the other threads that I read while searching for your problem, the order in which they appear seemed to be the key. You can try HideMenuNormal=1 but I wouldn't change any other value. Other suggestions were to rename the FSX.cfg and let the Sim build a new one.

Hey,

-----------------------------------------------------------------

This is what I have in fsx.cfg under (Main):

[Main]

HideMenuNormal=0

HideMenuFullscreen=1

Location=0,0,1280,1024,\\.\DISPLAY1

//Location=3,0,1275,995,\\.\DISPLAY1 //sim exited when in windowed mode (aha)

Maximized=1

---------------------------------------------------------------------

This is what YOU have in fsx.cfg under (Main):

[Main]

HideMenuNormal=0

HideMenuFullscreen=1

Location=1206,690,1366,728,\\.\DISPLAY1 //This is not right...

maximized=2 //This is not right... (0=no or false, 1=yes, or true, 2=???)

-------------------------------------------------------------------

This is what you SHOULD CHANGE TO under (Main):

[Main]

HideMenuNormal=0

HideMenuFullscreen=1

Location=0,0,1366,728,\\.\DISPLAY1

Maximized=1

-------------------------------------------------------------------

The ORDER of the lines does NOT make ANY difference... just so you know.

Just so you know, the location= line does have an impact on GUI and Windowed Mode screen location.

Do not use Napamule's suggested numbers unless you are unhappy with the GUI and Windowed Mode screen location.

If there were negative numbers there I might think it was the cause of some problem.

If you want to edit those numbers the best thing to do would be to delete all of the numbers after location=.

This will reset the display location parameters to default.

Suggesting numbers to put there without knowing basic info such as what screen resolution the OP uses and does he/she use multiple monitors is a bad suggestion.

Hey all,

I got it fixed using Mrzippy's idea of just deleting the FSX.CFG and letting the system generate a new one. Thanks for all your suggestions, sorry I did not respond to some of them. Thanks again,

Well, I (for one) would like (no, LOVE) to see what you now have under your fsx.cfg (Main) section (if you would). Thanks in advance. And I DID think about you having 2 monitors (ie:..1206,690,1366,728) but I figured your resetting it to '0,0' would not HURT your main display. Glad you got it fixed.
