Windows 7 Professional (64bits) , FSX+Acc pack - No sound at all?

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I recently reinstalled FSX (Gold Edition) + Acceleration Pack on Windows 7 Professional (64bit version, full up-to-date), but until so far FSX does not produce:

- Intro-Music when starting up FSX,

- Engine Sounds in Free Flight mode

- ATC and Pilot voices Free Flight mode

- User Interface Sounds

- User interface Backgroud music

in fact, no sound @ all :-(

So far I have tested (other Windows 7, Non-fsx-related-sound things) like:

- Speakers (are working fine, produce music when playing mp3 on e.g. Winamp, watchin online videos)

- Checked my Sound card settings

- The inFamous Windows 7 Automatic volume adjustment control when using computer for telephone converstaions.

This are my current sound-related FSX.CFG Settings:

[ATC]

PilotVoice=458752

UsePilotVoice=1

[sOUND]

AmbientUI=1

AmbientUIMusic=FSX01

AmbientUIMusicVolume=1.000000

PrimaryDevice={DEF00000-9C6D-47ED-AAF1-4DDA8F2B5C03}

SOUND=1

SOUND_FADER1=0.500000

SOUND_FADER2=0.500000

SOUND_FADER3=0.500000

SOUND_FADER4=0.500000

SOUND_LOD=1

SOUND_QUALITY=1

UISound=1

VoiceDevice={DEF00002-9C6D-47ED-AAF1-4DDA8F2B5C03}

[end of fsx.cfg settings]

NOTE:

I only use for addons

- FSSAVE

- FSUIPC.DLL

- Ivao's IvAp pilot client (voice working fine with IvAp as well)

QUESTION:

Do you have a suggestion, hint, clue what I might have been overlooking, have forgotten to (re)install?

Thanks for all your hints, tips and tricks!

You could try this: Go to Fsx Settings-Sound. In the Windows sound devices box change the

sounds to default primary device and voice to default voice device.

@Bruce, MrZippy

I have tested both your suggestions, unfortunately neither of them worked

I also have tested all FSX sounds files (to see if they were not corrupt) by playing them through WinAmp and VLC, and the soundsamples worked, produced sounds through my pc-speakers.

QUESTION

Does anyone know if any other part of Windows 7 / FSX that are sound-related like

- Windows Registry Keys?

- External (Windows and or FSX) sound related .dll's? .exe's?

- Other Windows Configuration panel issues?

Back to basics. While in free flight, click on Options on the menu bar at the top of the screen. Under Options there should be a check mark beside Sound.

Done that basic thing already Bruce ;-) Did not work

NOTE:

1. The funny things is that, after my very first installation of FSX + Accelleration Pack, the intro music did it oke, beuatifull sounds appeared from my speakers. After removal and doing a fresh reinstallation of FSX + Accelleration Pack, no sounds heared, not in the Main Menu (startup-theme) not in FreeFlight mode.

2. I alse deleted my "orginal" FSX.CFG, to allow FSX to create a new, fresh on, in the hope that this should solve my sounds-problem, again no sounds form FSX.

3. I have used many Freeware Registry cleaners (CCleaner, Wise, Eusing, PowerTools Lite) and Sysinternals AutoRuns to (manually) remove the stuff that the Deinstallation routine of FSX left behind in the registry.

So I can come to the following conclusions that:

1 - Inside the Windows Registry FSX registers sounds-related-parameters like the {GUID_CODE} of the "default sound card" and the "default voice card" that can be configured at the MainMenu->Settings->Sounds screen-> Windows Sound Devices Dropdown Boxes

2 - Inside the Windows Operating System, Control Panel, things are going wrong

3 - I could have tweaked a Windows background Service to many, that disables FSX to play sounds (but other programs like winamp, can play music over my speakers)

Digging further today...

Try changing Sound_LOD to 0.

My config: Sound_LOD=0

Zippy's config: Sound_Lod=0

Bruce

Thanks, Done that already, entering 0,1,2,3,4,5, etc... did not produce any sound

I have even browsed through the FSX (ESP) SDK, but so far I have come up empty on this FSX-internal-no_sound-subject

QUESTION:

Is there any more information on de FSX Sound-system like

- Which FSX.CFG entries do contribute to sound/ music production?

- Does the FSX use DirectX software_layers and drivers to produce sounds?

- Which (Fsx / Windows) dll's take part in the sounds-creation-process by FSX?

- Is there any well written documentation (at all) on this FSX sound matters online?

So far i hav eonly found sound-related fragments in blogs, forum, tweak-tutorials, but have not (yet) found a complete and in-depth description of the FSX sounds-system.

Opening the FSX-hood again and start digger further and deeper :-} ...
