Samsung SSDS

Amazon is selling a Samsung 840 EVO 250 gig HD for $133 and a Samsun 850 EVo 250 for $120 both internal drives. Those sound pretty reasonably priced or some would say cheap. Ar they drives to stay away from or go for?

I have a Samsung 840 Pro 256 SSD as my primary drive and a 512 gb Crucial MX100 as secondary drive-mainly FSX and Prepar3D on that; additionally I have a 256gb Crucial M4 mSATA drive which is purely TS2015 stuff.

I have had no issues with any of these drives and SSDLife is estimating end-of-life for each drive in about mid-2024......

I'll be replacing the mSATA for a larger (512gb or 1TB) drive, either Samsung or Crucial.

I think the Samsung would be my first choice purely because we have Samsung TV and washing machine, as well as phones and all have proven themselves.

Assuming they are genuine Samsung drives (and there are some fakes about but mainly branded as 'Sandisk' and 'Kingfast') they will be very satisfactory.

If the seller has excellent customer feedback and the drives show as genuine once installed (Samsung Magician identifies my 840 correctly as genuine) they will perform amazingly fast, especially if you have migrated directly from mechanical drives!!

Samsung 850 Pro. 10 year warranty and extremely fast.

I wish they would have been available when I built my last rig.

My Samsung 830 and 840 SSDs have been solid for 2+ years. Knock wood...Don
