Default FS2K2 crashes when crossing English Channel

LAST EDITED ON Oct-13-02 AT 07:22PM (EDT)[p]I actually ventured outside of the UK in FS2K2 tonight, or rather that was the intention.
Flying the default 747 out of Heathrow, crossing the Channel between Lydd and Dieppe, FS2K2 crashes and offers to send an error report to Microsoft.
It happens at roughly the same spot each time - N50*24.84 E1*1.49.
I have Great Britain & Ireland scenery loaded as well as Visual Flight's UK & Ireland terrain mesh.
It seems to me to be a problem in transition from the area of the add on scenery into default scenery.
Tomorrow night I will have a go at removing the add on scenery and terrain mesh and trying the flight again with just the default scenery.
In the meantime, if anyone else has encountered this problem and found a solution I would be grateful for a pointer in the right direction.

Tony

I experienced this and from looking at this forum and other pages came up with the idea of looking at the "winds" section of the "weather" box.

The top level was for some reason set at 100,000 feet.I changed this to a more sensible level i.e.45,000 feet.

Result-- no more lock ups over the channel area.

I experieced this regularly.

From looking up some pages from the archives I decided to look at the "winds"section ot the "weather"box.

For some reason the top level was set at 100,000 feet or thereabouts.I changed this to a more sesible level i.e. 45,000 feet.

Result....no more freezes over the Channel.

Try altering the upper wind level in the "winds" box in the "weather" section.

Mine was set at 100,000 feet for some reason. So I changed it to 45,000 and hey presto....no more lock ups or very slow frame rates in this area.

I had GB Airports installed too and this I removed as it was obviously causing a conflict somewhere.
