I have recently purchased and installed a Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D joystick in my system. It is plugged into the gameport of my SB128 sound card. It is to complement, as a helicopter controller, my existing CHProducts PCI yoke and pedals that I use for aircraft, and these are plugged into my motherboard gameport. Both the joystick and the yoke have worked okay in my MS Flight Simulator2002 - until today.
Now the Wingman has suddenly lost the throttle action in FS2002. When the lever is applied it moves up the throttle levers in the aircraft control panel on the screen but they keep jerking back to the zero position, even although the throttle lever itself on the Wingman is at full throttle position. Other buttons and the stick on the Wingman continue to operate as configured in FS2002. The throttle and other functions of the CHProducts yoke also continue to work as configured.
I have re-calibrated the Wingman several times and downloaded and installed the latest drivers from the Logitech and Creative sites. The problem still exists. There does not appear to be any conflict with either controller in the devices section or within FS2002. The resource input/output range is set at automatic (0208-020F), I have tried changing that but these changes seem to conflict with the CHProducts yoke. I am not conscious of installing any programs just prior to breakdown.
Logitech could not offer me any help, they suggest I go back to the software manufacturer, ie Microsoft – that sounds quite involved.
Does any one have any idea what might have gone wrong and how I might rectify it. The Wingman I believe is functionally okay because when I disable the joysticks in FS2002 and enable the special Dauphin.cfg file for the Eurocopter, the Wingman throttle works fine.
My equipment is as follows:
AMD XP 2100+
Gigabyte mb 7VRX
512MB DDR RAM
Xtasy GEF2 Ti 64MB video card (NVIDIA 40.72 drivers)
SB128 sound card (updated drivers)
Can anyone please tell me how to resolve this problem!
