Primary hard drive recomendation.

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have two W.D. hard drives specifically for flight sim. One is W.D. blue 2 TB sata 6.0 Gb. The other is WD Velociraptor 64 cache 10,000. rpm 500 GB. Which one should be the primary? I'm first time system builder and would appreciate any recommendations. Thank you

I would definitely use the Velociraptor to start out with if it were me, but I don't fill up my primary drive very full anyway, so 500 GB would be plenty for me. But if you think you will have a ton of add-ons then go with the 2TB blue drive. It does not matter which drive you use, performance wise, in FSX because Hard Drives don't help with the FSX performance, they only help with load times into and out of the sim.

Brigs2381,

Thanks for the reply. I wanted to get this out fast because I'm losing my hard drive on the computer I'm using. that's why I'm building a new one. I almost feel like declaring a Mayday I'm going down! Good luck to you .
