About new version of FSX

Interesting little link. I'd surely hope it is correct!

However, when dealing with Wikipedia, and most other open sites, not all articles are correct. In fact I have posted some corrections on Wikipedia articles myself.

Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow.

FSX will be availa

ble on Steam soon...nothing new just the same ole FSX.... The new project will be a take off from Microsoft Flight not FSX.....I'll bet.

Quote from Dovetail's Facebook page: Dovetail Games has also acquired the rights to distribute the multi-award winning Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Gold Edition via Valve’s popular digital retail channel, Steam, entitled Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition.

Where does all this stuff about Flight come from? Balony, rubbish, etc...etc.

Microsoft gave Dovetail/Steam the rights to redistribute FSX. It is a business decision & MS does not need to worry about inventory, world wide product distribution & guys like us making our usual demands. Its for the guys that would rather play a 5-6 year old discontinued program instead of upgrading! So, for the newbies out there...

How will it affect us that have FSX? No effect whatsoever!

Microsoft sold Dovetail the rights to sell FSX on Steam only. Dovetail has nothing to do with any other distribution channels.

Also, the second part of the deal was Dovetail licensing Microsoft's flight simulator technology to produce their own flight sim to be released next year. So far no further details have been released about this piece. Where Flight gets brought in is that it is very similar to Dovetail's train sim product in the way it is setup for DLC. It would also make sense for them to build a new product based off a more recent code base than FSX. However, as I said above, no further details have been released yet.
