    Default Long distance flights

Hi, this is my first post and my first hallo to everyone!

Who can help me with the following problem?

I like to do long distance flights. That means I take off at any airport and I want to land anywhere else at the other end of the world. Therefore - after reaching cruising level - I move my aircraft about 200 nm next to the destination. All that I do flying with atc-control, of course.
But after moving the aircraft atc usually sends me back to the last beacon or airroute and does not accept my new position. If I donīt follow the contollerīs order, my flight plan will be cancelled immediately.

Does anyone know this problem and how do you solve it? Iīm looking forward to your answers.

    Greetings from Germany!

If you're flying an IFR flight plan, you have to stick to it,
or ATC will get you to stick to it, or cancel it. If you
don't intend on following the flight plan you set up, you
should file VFR and you'll be on your own.

    Hi Jim,

when moving the aircraft Iīm using fs-navigator. I put the aircraft to a VOR or NDB according to the IFR-flightplan. Sometimes ATC accepts the move, but often it does not.
So, is there maybe a better way than using fs-navigator?

hmm..I don't use FSnav, so I don't know the answer to that one.

You seem to have the same patience that I do for long legs of a trip. I also use FSNav. I haven't found a way around this other than flying shorter legs.

If you are flying a standard IFR GPS route, first... acknowledge the ATC hand-off then move the aircraft (with FSNAV) anywhere you want by placing the cursor on the map, right-clicking the menu, and selecting "Move Aircraft Here". Works everytime.

I do those long haul flights all the time. This is how I get around that prob.

THe ATC is FS will only allow you to follow the plan that is made up using the default planner. If you deviate while in their control they will warn you and then cancel you. So what you do is when you get airborne, wait until they ask you to switch frequencies. When you switch, do not contact the next ATC. keep switching frequencies each time the text display tells you you have to but don't contact the ATC. That way they will warn other aircraft of your position but will leave you alone. When you have started your descent to your destination however, contact the ATC, preferrably the approach ATC. At that point you will hear ALL the atc instructions that you should have if you were contacting them all along. Don't answer until the very last one (there will be a pause to wait for your response). From there you can follow their directions to get to the active runway.

Hope that helps. Let me know

So, what I tried several times upto now:

After receiving cruising-level I waited until ATC wanted me to contact another frequency. I switched to it, but did not call ATC on that. I used FSNav to move my a/c to another airroute or beacon according to my flightplan next to the destination.
But then I did not get any contact to ATC anymore, I even did not hear another pilotīs or controllerīs voice: I lost any contact, IFR or VFR. Help, I got lost!!!!!!!!!!

Concerning this way of flying I more like to use my old way, although ATC often sends me back to any place in the world.

    Did I make a mistake?!?

FSNavigator has the option to change the `next waypoint` in the waypoint menu at the top. Move the aircraft, change the next waypoint to something appropriate in front of you - and keep on flying.
