I've downloaded them but will hold off installing till I know that they fix the Windows XP SR1 / FSAA issue. No fix - no install. :-)

    Cheers,

    Mike.

I had an interesting experience yesterday. I opened a beta image generator that worked prior to SP1 installation but now the image would not appear. I have a VisionTek GF2 Ti 200 64MB DDR using the 29.42 drivers and had been running NVRefreshtool also prior to SP1. I also noticed I lost the NVidia Tab on the Administrator's side of my WinXP Pro.

I reinstalled the drivers and fixed all the problems. I don't seem to need NVRefreshtool anymore either. I am running the monitor at V68.5KHz and H85.5Hz with 1024x768x32.

Just seems weird that I needed to reinstall the drivers. Although, I believe I read somewhere SP1 changed the registry settings in this area.

I read somewhere recently that XP's SR1 updated your nVidia driver with version 29.58 - but I think that may have been someone's conjecture. It left mine alone, but I had the WHQL 30.82 in situe when I did the update....

Thanks Simon , ive just installed ( w98 ) them and my first reactions are that i like them , i think the screen looks a bit darker thou , i love the new control panel and its got an Anisoptic texture slider for the first time ( for us W98 users any way ) but when its set the default 0 the " brakes etc etc " signs that comes on looks a bit funny ( looks like how it does when you enabled AF using Riva tunner ) but i can live with that , the image looks great in FS and there is a new option called texture smoothing when you use AA but one of the AA options is missing or been taken off ...its 4x9 tap but i did not use that any way .
One odd thing thou , i noticed higher FPS in 3d Mark 2001 se and the nature test was quicker as well but my marks did not improve very odd indeed .

Simon do you know what the default AF setting of 0 does ? this may sound like a silly question but according to what i saw in FS ( the Brakes sign etc ) AA as been enabled . I got a large score drop when i set it to 1 ie a about 1100 points , it was 9528 it droped to 84xx.

You got these loaded up Simon?

If so, what's your initial thoughts?

    Hi

I dont know what happend but all i did was uncheck texture sharpning under AA ( even thou AA is off ???? ) and ran 3d mark 2001 se again and it rose to..........10402 from 9528.
I thought that texture sharpning only worked when AA is on acording to the help part .

I installed the win98 one, and my fs kept freezing up. Never had and problems with any of the other drivers. The freezup happens when I try to switch to full screen view. Any ideas out there?

Paul, if you had any drivers from the 29.xx or 30.xx series before you must remove all references to them before loading the new 40.xx series drivers.

My initial impression is that, although the new features are nice to have, I don't see any significant IQ difference from previous drivers on my GF3 Ti200. The image sharpening slider appears to be anisotropic filtering by another name, hence the fps hit, however on my W98SE machine the fps penalty for using AF is less than it used to be.

Overall, evolutionary rather than revolutionary, I'd say, at least for my set up...
