1. Default CH Pro Pedals - HELP!

Hey guys,

I’m hoping you can help me solve this problem! About two and half weeks ago I purchased the CH Pro Pedals USB to use with Windows XP, FS2002 PRO on a 1.6 Ghz, 256MB Ram machine. After reading how CH is plug and play I plugged in the beautiful sucker and began to fly. While flying straight and level I noticed immediately that the heading was drifting a few degrees every couple of seconds! Well, I went back to check that the realism setting of rudder drift was OFF. Further investigating, upon hitting slew, the plane is actually is rotating on it’s own. Now about a millimeter of opposite rudder is needed to stop this. I am fairly positive this is not supposed to happen and is rather aggravating. I haven’t used them at all this past couple weeks and CH Products tech support was 100% useless. I have calibrated in both Windows product calibration and even CH’s. My return policy is almost up and I would be extremely disappointed to have to give these up…anyone have a suggestion to stop the drifting? By the way, before getting the Pedals and Yoke, I had a Microsoft Sidewinder 2, and used the rudder in that. However, I am sure that I uninstalled the Sidewinder program…anyone? Please! Any help is GREATLY appreciated in advance!

Sounds like it could be gyro drift? Check your realism settings to see if gyro drift is selected. Pressing the D key should reset it. Also, check the rudder tab to see if it's set properly on your panel.

Hi,

We also need to know what your FS2002 setting are.

But also, which plane is your default startup plane. WHich plane does this occur with, specifically.

I will agree with the first poster that it may be gyrodrift. That is usually the cause of these anomolies.

Regards,
Joe

Do you have FSUIPC installed? If so try calibrating them in FSUIPC.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-17-02 AT 02:04PM (EDT)[p]I have the same problem. It appears that on some systems, the CH Pro USB pedals do not like to work with other controllers, which in my case is a Logitech Wingman Force. I always get the rudder drift to the right and a touch on the pedals always corrects this. There is very little info out there about this problem due to the fact that so few have problems. It has to do with the CH drivers for the pedal. The way that I combat this problem is to first do a pedal calibration in windows (I have XP). Then when I run FS2002 it works great. I also suggest you use the FSUPIC to set the pedals, this also seems to help. I notice this problem also with IL2 and the rudder drifting right on me. I hate doing a calibration every time I want to play a game, but it does solve that problem for me.

Also watch which plug you put the pedals into. I notice more problems by placing the pedals on an USB hub rather than directly to the computer's USB. And USB mice will totally mess with the pedals, making them almost inoperative.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-17-02 AT 04:12PM (EDT)[p]Hey everyone, thanks for the replies! I forgot to mention, gyro drift is off, rudder trim is centered, and the winds are off too! The plane I am flying now is the default 172SP, and I have no add-ons installed at all, or even downloaded. The system is basically all default. The drift even occurs when there is no other game controllers connected. I am currently using the CH Pro Yoke as well as the pedals. I meant I got rid of the Sidewinder 2. Sorry, I do not have FSUPIC, as the comp. FS2002 Pro is on does not have an internet connection. I sure hope someone can help. I'm afraid the pedals may have to be returned to get my money back.

P.S. May I not be calibrating correctly? When I do a new calibration the Z Axis, which control the rudder is sort of fluttering around under 49% (when you click on the show raw data button). When I move it to 50% and click next and hit save, it does not save the information at all. Anyone?

I do not use it, but I have noted posts stating FSUIC helps eliminate spikes from control devices which might be the fluttering you are seeing in calibration.

Also, after the CH drivers load, I also autoopen the Gaming Options and check the properties of each after it comes up with ID OK. If you are using the CH control manager, the original device IDs with unidentify, then the virtual device names will appear and eventually go to OK mode. Under properties for each device, you may see you have to momentarily jog the yoke, stick, peds, throttle, etc. to have the axis jump to the correct point before starting the SIM.

Although not the proper solution, have you tried making a slight adjustment in the sensitivity option. This stopped the drift for me.
