    Question Default 737-8

    My default 737-8 uses too much fuel.
    Does anyone have the same trouble?

    Gas is cheap! Fill 'er up! How high are you flying? Using Mach or Indicated airspeed?

    [GeneralEngineData]
    engine_type = 1 //0=Piston, 1=Jet, 2=None, 3=Helo-Turbine, 4=Rocket, 5=Turboprop
    Engine.0 = 0, -16.1, -3.2 //(feet) longitudinal, lateral, vertical distance from reference datum
    Engine.1 = 0, 16.1, -3.2 //(feet) longitudinal, lateral, vertical distance from reference datum
    fuel_flow_scalar = 1 //Scalar for fuel flow efficiency
    min_throttle_limit = -0.25 //Minimum percent throttle. Generally negative for turbine reverser
    max_contrail_temperature = -30 //Temperature (deg C) below which contrails may appear

    Some folks have tried making changes to the fuel_flow_scalar to achieve efficiency.

    Fly higher, you will burn less fuel.

    Also, don't believe what the default flight planner says about fuel consumption. Add at least 30% more.

    Probably needs a tune up and oil change.......

    Suggest changing the fuel_flow_scalar value in the FSX.cfg file from 1 to 0.7392197. Also ensure loading an optimal fuel amount for your trip. Full tanks all the time means you are consuming fuel to carry fuel. Here is a good fuel planner: http://fuelplanner.com/

    Out of curiosity, is this a realistic fix for the default 737-800 or just a suggestion for the OP to decrease his fuel consumption?
