Thread: Elvis' Planes

    Default Elvis' Planes

Any of you developers out there thought of making one of the Elivs Presley's jets. The Jetstar: Hound Dog II, or the Convair 880 (i think) Lisa-Marie?

It may be 25 years after his death, but still the king lives on!

I'd love to see these planes as well!

I actually do have a Lisa Marie, but I think it was desigend for FS5. I need an update badly. Especially since Microsoft actually included Graceland in this version.

There doesn't seem to be much interest in this topic! Even if it wasn't the Lisa Marie, I'd still like to see a nice Convair 880, instead of more 580's.

  4. Default RE: Elvis' Planes ... one is here a Flightsim.com

I have been flying the Lisa Marie (Hound Dog 1) since FS98. The plane is here at Flightsim.com to download. When flying online into Memphis or Las Vegas, I usually use the plane. But I would like to see both planes created and updated to FS2002 standards.

Funny thing is if Elvis Presley's home is the #2 most visited home in the USA (the White House is #1). I would think that his planes are the most viewed ones in the USA as well.

I am not an airplane Designer or Painter or I would have rewoked the current plane, for the 25th anniversary. But I can tell you how to get the plane to work in FS2002 (if you need help).

    you need these 2 files....
    elvis880.zip
    cp880.zip

Open the elvis880.zip and in it you will find Tetures files
    examples: elvis880.0af, elvis880.1af, elvis880.2af ... elvis880.9af

Simply rename them to Tw880.0af,Tw880.1af,Tw880.2af ...Tw880.9af

The other 2 files in the folder you do not need.

    Now open the cp880.zip file

Go to the Texture folder and delete the files in the folder and then copy and paste the texture files you have in the elvis880 folder.

Now place the cp880 folder into your FS2002 Aircraft folder as you would any addon plane, in order to fly it.

The cp880.zip even has a custom 880 panel and gauges to use with the plane.

I am an Elvis fan as well, went to Graceland for Elvis Week too.

Hope this helps you out some.

Thanks for the info, drake! As I said earlier, I do have the Lisa Marie. It's the same one you listed. I had ran it through the model converter patch(for lack of remembering what it was actually called), and I had saved it like that. I was able to use this converted model in FS2002, but I had to alias the panel to a default one.

I am going to do it the way you said now, so I'll also have a panel (and maybe better flight dynamics).

Does anyone know of a good Jetstar I would be able to repaint as the Hound Dog II? I have been studying a little on repainting and I would like to give it a go.

Don't forget for each concert there needs to be an adventure file and hundreds of screaming fans at the gate waiting for Elvis's plane to taxi in! :-) And the Limo's too. And the "Welcome Elvis" signs and banners.

I am making a JetStar II and a 990, I suppose to make it into the 880 would not be much of a stretch (more like a shortening)...

    FLIGHTFX POLICY
1.) We design for reality, not for idealism.
Thus, you will not see virtual cabins on our aircraft. You can not see inside the real thing anyway, unless you are looking into the sun. You will find virtual cockpits but they will not be visible from outside for the same reason.
2.) We design for people with real computers. Thusly, we will not waste polygons on superfluous parts. We will use a texture when there is no noticeable difference between it and a group of performance wasting parts. We will model our aircraft efficiently. If you do not like it, too bad.
3.) We will give you the latest features, but we WILL NOT sacrifice visual accuracy to implement them. Accuracy comes before eye candy.[/font size]
