Thread: Mike Stone's 727 looks great, flys bad! :-)

Default Mike Stone's 727 looks great, flys bad! :-)

I guess Mike Stone's 727 is the gold standard when it comes to this model, but does anyone else have a problem getting this bird off the ground (it seems to have all the flight characteristics of a brick!).

I installed two versions based on Mike's model, an American Airways (which seems to have messed-up nightlighting on the tail section) and a TWA version (both old and new colors), and both of them have the same problem.. I can't get them off the ground!! I have set the flaps according to the notes but even at 250knots, they don't like to climb off the ground. I am I missing something about the correct takeoff procedures or are the .air files out of whack!

Thanks for your assistance or suggestions.

ps: no, speedbrakes/spoliers are not on! And I have not modified any other settings (like trim), and I have recalibarated my joystick (only using default settings).

    Default Looks ok, flies great....

3 notches of flaps, 10-15 clicks of trim UP.
140kts or so and yer off....

This bird begs to get in the air, fairly LEAPS off the ground....

I have lots of hours in fs'dom, it ain't the plane....

Ok, I figured it was me :)

I always set the flaps to to 10-15%, we far as trim, where is trim set, is it the "dial" on the dash that changes the angle of the plane(I think it is labeled something like "pitch commander")?

Default 3 notches is 5 degrees!!!!..

No it's not the 'pitch commander', that is part of the auto pilot. But if you are using the panel that came with the plane it's inoperative.
On your keyboard hit 'NUMLOCK' off and up trim is '1', down trim is '7'...
If you are using a stick with buttons, check your assignments. You may have trimm assigned to one of those buttons, and that makes stuff much easier...

    Go check, we'll wait..

Don't hold your breath! LOL, I'm at work so I can't check till tonight. But thanks for you assistance.

One thing though, are you firmilar with the dial I mentioned (it is the trim setting, right? or is there another way to set trim?)

Do you have a Yoke? set your trim on that, i use it alot for take offs and landings, on VFR and IFR, commericial and GA. I thinks its the 6th missing element in flying, LIFT, THRUST, DRAG, ROLL, YAW, and trim, trim, trim, :7 , when its come to FSimmers, you gotta use it!!

Looks great right but im having difficaulty with the A/P , how so you use it right ? ie setting the altitude that you want to climb to / descend to etc etc .

I also get a graphical glitch with the tail at night , has there been a fix yet ?
