Thread: New Computer New Problem

Hybrid View

  1. Default New Computer New Problem

Whenever I have rain and ATC going off all at the same time... ATC will turn off and I wont be able to hear it. Anyone know why its doing this? I think it only happens when rain and everything is going off all at once.

Maybe your audio card is being overwhelmed try adjusting the hardware sound acceleration level.

This might be worth a try.

Click start button, click run, type dxdiag, click OK, DirectX Diagnostic Tool will come up, click sound tab, under DirectX Features adjust slider one notch at a time then retry FS.

Really helpful. I'll go and get my crystal ball.

Now, how about system specs, particularly sound card..?

It could be as simple as the number of `voices` being set too low in the card preferences.

AMD Athlon 2200+, GeForce4 TI 4400 Phillips Rythmic Edge Audio Card. The drivers havnt been updated since 99 but I dont think there are any more drivers available.

Well, I've never even heard of a Phillips Rhythmic Edge soundcard, but seeing as how you haven't updated the drivers since `99 I think it's safe to assume you need to upgrade the card to something that actually works with the rest of your system... However, if the driver settings allows the number of simultaneous `voices` to be increased, you might try that as a short-term measure.

The symptoms you describe have all the hallmarks of a soundcard running out of resources.

Hope this solves your problem. You now own it.

I am amazed at the gall of the pathetic defence so often offered here: "I'm not a computer wiz at the computer like some of you"...

    THEN GET EDUCATED!

There is simply no excuse. None whatsoever.

If you can switch the computer ON you can access Help files. If you can access Help files you can access the help they contain. None of this should require outside assistance. It's not rocket science.

If you can access the help they contain you may have questions about the specifics but you will find a general answer and more often than not a pointer to a specific website or forum or newsgroup. If you get REALLY lucky, a manufacturer may include details of a tech support forum in the literature that accompanies their hardware product. I for one would be bloody annoyed with you were I to find that Page 2 of your soundcard manual lists the website I posted above. Then you really would have wasted my time, this forums time, your own time and the benefits of (presumably) some years of education.

Or try a using a Search engine - it's hardly Rocket Science...

...After all, you found you're way here all by yourself. You fly FS2002 all by yourself. Presumably you can load new planes and add new sound and panel files without the assistance of a technical wizard.

It's YOUR computer. Empower yourself by learning a little about how it operates and you may find that you need to utilise forum time and bandwidth a whole lot less.
No-one is born with the ability to answer technical questions, any more than we're born with the ability to drive a car or fly a plane. It's a set of skills we need to acquire, nurture and develop.
Those that offer help here do so voluntarily and in their own time. How could you be so selfish as to think that THEIR time is in some way less important than YOUR time? Because that's how your original question increasingly seems to me...

There's far too much of this: "I can't be bothered to look up the answer for myself, I'll get some other schmuck to do it for me" cr*p floating around this forum...

Hope you sort out your problem.

While Mr Evans has a point, that skill takes a long time to aquire. Yes he should have looked for drivers first, then asked.

    On topic:
It could be that he doesnt have enough channels on his sound card....sound about right?
