Default Anyone else use to watch the Travel Channel?

    Hi!

Here in the UK where I live during the 90s there was a cable channel called the Travel Channel and they used to show a TV series by this guy called Burt Wolf who was this friendly bearded American guy who made really nice travel videos. I used to love watching them when a teenager.

Anyway I don't know if the Travel channel is even still around but recently I came across this guy Dennis Callan who has videos with some on Youtube and stuff. He has very much a similar kinda vibe although he travels with a group. I'm sure it's not most people's thing but I love his video on the Swiss Alps.

That's the link for the first part. If you like it all 11 parts I think are there too.

Anyway if anyone has travel videos or stuff like that they like in a similar style feel free to post.

    Many thanks.

I believe that Burt Wolf was on PBS - not the Travel Channel, although the Travel Channel is still available on cable (I watch it almost nightly), but regardless, like you said, many of Burt Wolf's shows, "Travels & Traditions" from 12 seasons are available for viewing on YouTube.

    Please enjoy!

If it doesn't have a prop, it's not a real airplane!

    Hi!

Thanks for the info. Yes I think in the US he's on PBS. Last few times I was in the USA I used to watch PBS quite a bit in my hotel room. I found it quite hit and miss but there were some programs I liked like the US version of "Antiques roadshow" where they value old items that people bring in. I remember also a few years ago I saw Wolf Blitzer on CNN and got him confused and thought my favourite travel reporter had turned into a complete a**hole! Very glad to see he's still doing the same kinda stuff. Here in the UK when I was young there were quite a few good travel shows on TV with names like "Wish you were here" and stuff where they would pretty much keep it very simple and just review holidays and stuff. The presenters were good and never got in the way and let the holidays and scenery and stuff really be the star of the show. All these kinda shows seem to have gone now.

Anyway thanks for the link. I'm kinda scared to click on it though now because maybe he's become less cool or interesting than I remember him! Will try to build up the courage!

    Thanks.
