Thread: Can't Open FS9 After Saving It To AN EXTERNAL DRIVE

  1. Default

Did you create this scenery in AFCAD and Instant Scenery AFTER copying FS9 to the external drive? If so, you have lost it all, unless you backed it up...

I still do not have the scenery in FS9, but I do have the AFCADS in FS9\Scenery\scenery. When I try to Edit it (or reinstall) to make them show up, it does not help. In my Static Objects Library, the scenery bitmaps and BGLs are there. In the Static Objects Library, the bitmaps show up. None of this shows in the Sim game. Should I have XML files in the Static Objects Library, or am I confusing this with something else?!
I guess it's 'good news' that the files are there, now I need someone who knows a little more than me to help me make them show up! Thank you everyone who is trying to help!

There is no FS9\Scenery\Scenery unless you added it yourself. If so, did you add it to the Scenery Library?

No need for XML files in the Static Objects Library. Can I assume that you have the *.bgl files in Static Objects Library\scenery and the textures in Static Objects Library\texture?

    Default Missing AFCAD Scenery

Thank you. I am referring to the file FS9\Addon Scenery\scenery that contains the AFCAD files like AF2_KEWR. When I create a new airport in FS9, or make a change in an existing airport through AFCAD, the change is saved to one of these files.
When I look at my FS9 files in explorer, I see the files that I have added or changed, but when I go to the airport in the Sim, the added structures are not there. I tried working with one file by trying to make an EDIT in the Scenery Library, but the sim said the file was already there and blocked me.
Thank you for your reply! Mike

Afcad2.21 does not have the ability to add structures to the sim.

I don't understand this statement, you cannot edit files with the Scenery Library, so I am not sure what you mean.

(In the Scenery Library I tried the Edit button, which I believe is above or below the ADD button.) BUT, I now realize that because I have been away from creating scenery for a while, I am confusing the Scenery Library with Rwy12, which I was using to place scenery objects like helipads, terminals, cars in parking lots, static aircraft, fences and gates, etc. I first created airport or heliport surfaces with AFCAD and that is where I got confused between what the two applications do. So now the problem I have is that no Rwy12 objects are showing up. I hope that someone can help me with that because I have used Rwy12 objects throughout FS9 and their absence is messing things up a lot. I made a lot of rooftop helipads and now the helicopters are suspended in mid air a few feet above the roofs where the missing helipads were! Thank you! Mike
