Default Gauges from fs9 to fsx

The manifold pressure gauge on a helicopter aircraft from fs9 will not work on fsx. i have copied the Robinson panel onto the aircraft and the gauge is there but will not load up. Is it possible to fix this please?

If you have FS9, copy the "msvcr70.dll" file extension into your FSX main directory, if not seach online for a download of it. This file allows gauges from older MS flightsims to work in FSX & will also allow complete panels from FS9 aircraft to work in FSX.

Can I just ask, which bit is the main directory? Is it like the main file menu where you can access Gauges, Effects, SimObjects and stuff?

Yes. Clarify; 'tis where FSX.EXE resides.
Another point; Some gauges for FS9 aircraft are in FS98 format and will not work in FSX regardless...Don

Thanks guys. I think the problem is that the gauges are from FS98 and thats why they will not work. Thank you all for your expert advice.

So, how can I tell the difference without having to load each gauge into a panel and then try it in FSX?

Gauges with an "xml" extension will be in FS2K2 and up format and should almost all be compatible.
Some Events and Variables from the earlier SDKs used in some *.xml gauges, are no longer valid in FSX. Those are rare.
*.gau and *.dll are written in C. I don't know of a way to tell what generation's SDK code is used, other than try 'em.
One of the folks that write C may be able to assist with deciphering that...Don
